ACC line amperage

I installed a Pioneer DEH-P80MP, but I can't get it to utilize the 60w function. The manual says the ACC line needs to be 10A or greater. Anyone know if the ACC line is 10A or more?

Thanks

from what i read on crutchfield there should be a switch on the bottom of the hu, and u just switch that over to get 60x4. Also just so you know that is the peak power, it is rated for 27 rms watts when set to 60 and 20 rms watts when set to 40. Those numbers sound a little imbelished.

I failed to mention that I did indeed switch it over to the 60w position, but it still displays 40w on the screen. In the instruction manual, it says that if you use the 60w function, the ACC line needs to be 10A or more. If the ACC line is 10A or less, you need to buy a stupid $50 accessory to connect it to the battery.

I'm thinkin' that the ACC is 10A or less, but I just want to make sure.

and even if it was lower, the fuse would just blow if the HU was drawing to much power

Accessory wire (ACC) just acts as a switch...the real power comes from the yellow power line.

Supposedly you need to run 10 guage (lol...you could put 12 guage and you'd be fine) to the battery (fused! of course)...

Do that, upgrade the ground and you should get your "60" watts out of that deck *lol@60 out of a deck*

to battery

Is your yellow power wire connected to the wiring harness or direct to the battery? You'll get better draw if it's to the battery direct.

the peak wattage rating out of any car audio device follows the ils theory. If lightning strikes, your deck will put out 60 watts. Check to find out if it is rated at 12volts. A lot of car audio brands rate their products at 13 or more constant volts

CEA2006 standards say amps get rated at 14.4 volts... so 14.4 is fine.

And, you'd have a tough time getting 60W out of all channels even if lightning did strike

Head units are typically tested with a single channel driven, all controls at maximum, a 1K test tone, external power supply, and a maximum power figure is determined. Funny thing is the power supply is the limiting factor. That is why it can do 60W max on 1 channel, but usually tests around 15x4 or 60 W total. The new Panasonic decks with the Tripath full range Class D amplifier are pretty cool. They are rated like normal amplifiers for 70W max but will give over 30W all day. If you don't want an external amp, that is definitely the head unit to buy.

Is this the one you're talking about? Looks nice, but Crutchfield says it won't fit in a Lancer..

That's BS. 99.9% of DIN HU's will fit. Panasonic would be shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't fit in our cars - if it doesnt fit in ours, it probably doesnt fit in others...

So....don't let that hold you back...

Exactly, it's standard and ISO Din mount. It will fit just like any other radio.
