external input (mp3 player?)
Hey! Does anyone know (hopefully a cheap way) To possibly use an external mp3 player, like an iPOD to play music in your car, like a way to channel it into ur stereo, and still have the functionality of your stock stereo? I've seen some things that COULD possible do this but i want to see what all there is. Thanks!
there are these little devices that you can buy that you plug into your portable music player and they broadcast the music on a radio station of ur choosing. then, you tune your radio to that station, and voila! u've got ur mp3 player hooked up
I bought one for my MiniDisc player at Best Buy for $20. There were two kinds, there, one that took batteries and another that plugs into your cigarette lighter (the one I got).
Also, there is a thing called the iRock (I'm pretty sure that's its name) that is designed by another company and promoted along w/ the iPod. You can find it on the Apple website, probably, or just searching online.
The iRock costs $30, but would probably be better than the one I got. With the iRock, there are 3 pre-chosen radio stations that u can use. The one I bought, u tune the device to a station and then ur radio to a station. However, the device has a little wheel that is very sensitive and tends to be thrown off so that you get static.
These things sound pretty damn good, you'll be surprised. However, they are not CD quality (obviously) which is quite noticable if u play your music very loudly. Otherwise, I would opt for the iRock if you really want to get one.
Also, you could install a tape deck and buy a cassette adapter, or get a head unit w/ a direct line in (which would sound the best, by far)

this is a bit more expensive than probably what you can find at bestbuy, but this has the same functionality. I havn't tested the features or use with the two items at bestbuy. Check this out from the CCRANE company: http://www.ccrane.com/fm_transmitter...ccessories.asp
I can choose any FM frequency in .05 increments and modify the output signal a small bit. This is what I am using to send the sound from my Pentium 4 cube that I have installed in my trunk.
