speaker size
Hey i have a 2003 lancer es and I am wondering if anyone can give me measurements for how much room I have around the speakers (besides 6 12"). OR if anyone has the same car and has infinity 6022i's installed if they could tell me cuz I am just trying to see if they will fit.

Actually, our speakers are not really 6 1/2" speakers, they are 6 3/4" size. (Damn you Mitsu) Some speaker companies make oversized speakers that fit our application like polk, kicker and infinity. As for clearance, the rear two will be fine, its the front two you need to worry about. I have heard that most speakers will not fit due to the back of the speaker hitting the window. Try and find shallow mount speakers.
Heres a link to a great website for anything car audio related. They have a large selection of 6 3/4" speakers.

or
Heres a link to speaker size adapters so any 6 1/2" speakers will fit(I bought some for my ride, and they work fine)

EDIT: or you could just drill new holes in the metal, your choice

thanks
Thanks a lot, I really needed to know about those front speakers .... so i guess I will have to buy shallow mount speakers ( ) but I guess that's not a big deal ... I'll just have a good excuse to invest in some good subwoofers!!

I heard this was an issue for the Evo guys, so I assumed we would have the same problem. I havnt switched out my front speakers (just the rears) so I dont know by experience. Also, maybe those Memphis speakers just happen to have a shorter mouting depth than other speakers, who knows?

Just bought!
Hey guys I just bought my 03 lancer Es so I don't know a lot about it yet. But I have my whole system from my old car my rear speakers are 6" x 9", And my front speakers are 4" x 6" will they fit. Whole system is boss audio pretty nice system the front ones are not very deep so after reading what I've read I don't think I should have a problem there but before I do all the work of taking it apart I figured I would try to do a little research. In advance any help would be greatly appreciated
