Guess I'll subscribe to this thread. I am sitting on a stack of software so.... maybe I'll cut it loose.

You just opened the floodgates now.

I'll expect about 20 phonecalls to RRM tomorrow that all start with the same first line: "I'd like to talk to Rob about the SplitSecond software!"

I am still unsure. Maybe I can sell it for $49 and then you guys are on your own with tuning etc... Better yet I could sell windbands too. What do you think?

Especially since the second someone gets the map, they can just distribute it to everyone else. In the Mazda forum, we openly exchange maps because some people don't have widebands, so we've been helping people out developing maps that work correctly. One guy has a map set up for his car running WRX injectors.

Allright...well the software is in my possession... And I got a quote from a first shop in town. a few more phone calls and a few more quotes and I should hit the dyno for a little tuning. I'm mainly looking at 2 shops right now. KVR Performance and TappAuto. Tapp Auto has plenty of experience with DSM and have the best reputation around here... so they are my first choice if the price is rightI sure would appreciate if Rock could jump in and participate in this project... I can always keep dreaming I guess

Ahhh, the joy of all of the new posts:
"I blew up"
"Need new engine"
"What do I need to tune"

SWEET

^Probably because a base tunning costs about $200.00 and it is very basic. $400.00 will give you a really nice tune @ a reputable shop.

Yeah... but don't forget the ones reading: "It rocks", "It freakin awesome", "Guys, you have to get this", "Hey all, here's my map", "Anything would do with this one"

I would still appreciate your input if people start modifying the map, but will understand if you don't want to be part of that. Could you answer these 2 questions though?

On the 91 octane map: Since we know it was designed as a 1 fits all map, approx how much more room is left to play with?

How do you think a 94 octane map would be compared to a 91? Would it even be worth it?

I have the R4 installed on my laptop but haven't hooked it up to the Box yet to see how the map looks like.

unlikely, that quote seems rather high, especially for a n/a tune (which is basic, you don't have much to turn for when you only got bolt ons). Plus, you can get a baseline street tune yourself if you got a laptop and WBO2

Which brings me to my other point, with open tuning you can tune for stuff you normally can't with RRM's PB: camshaft, cam gear, HC pistons, FPR, injectors, etc etc

This is the problem! I can give general suggestions but I don't recommend tuning that way. You need wideband or dyno... to make SURE you are OK. Is there more power to be had? On higher octane? Yea maybe. Can you optimize mods ? Perhaps but N/A with same comp ratio would allow for minimal improvement. With the software out, just as you want to customize your tune I cannot do a diligent job of custom tuning over the phone. That would be negligent of me to even try so you would be on your own. Only advice right now is back up your original map, including settings. R4 will default settings and your car will not run right. I am not going to answer the phone to give out setting over and over and over!

When I do get it tuned... it will of course be on the dyno with WBo2. And I sure don't expect you to provide any "over the phone tune" and I hope nobody ever calls you for such thing.

As for settings. If you are indeed willings to let us know(before I actually hook up the R4), feel free to do so in this thread, or even by sending me a Pm. If people want to know them down the road, they will be reffered to this thread.

I'm getting quotes for 2 hours of Dyno Tuning which ranges from 225$ to 350$

Basic dyno fees are what, like $150 an hour for dyno tune? Its not going to take 3 days to get an "optimal" tune if your basic n/a. Blaze just needs the software cause the PB isn't working so hot in his car because of the weather and stuff
