ok so i used that scantech and managed to get the code from the car. I started a separate thread on it.

Now i have another problem. I open up ECU flash, and click the "read from ECU" button, but then it tells me "the interface cannot connect with hardware" with a bunch of numbers. Or something like that.

I know the cable is good cos i used it to get the CEL info. Does anyone know what else it could be?

You probably don't have the correct drivers installed. Check that. You need the FDTI OpenPort USB drivers for the Tactrix cable.

Actually, the drivers are included with ECUFlash and will install automatically for the Tactrix cable. Or at least they should. I can't remember. It's been over a year since I installed mine.

^yeh the drivers all installed, and the Scantech software connects fine. Also ECU flash knows when the cable is plugged in. Basically the "connect to ecu" (or whatever) button doesn't become usable (is greyed out) until the cable is plugged in.

So i plug the cable in, the button lights up for me to be able to use it, but when i click it, it gives me the error.

In the list of cars that show up i don't see the lancer. And i went through each one of the ones listed one by one, and none of them worked.

What version of ECUFlash are you using? I have had problems with every version after 1.29a. I actually installed 1.32 yesterday and could not read my ROM anymore. I had to remove it and reinstall 1.29a.

Great to see it all working for you. Be sure you make a backup of that stock ROM before you go crazy tuning

As soon as you get your wideband setup and begin datalogging you can scrape a little power by tuning to the mods you already have. Would make for a good learning experience before you get the turbo installed.
