ok so a little update with idle tuning

I was able to get the car to start up easily and stay in the 14-3-15.7 range on a cold start. after warming up it stayed in stoich!!! Now Im just stuck on my injectors when warm they go rich all of a sudden to like 10.0 then lean to 13.0 then back to 10.0 and the rpms jump from 750 to 1100 everytime it goes rich like it cant keep an idle....

I have been thinking about this. Since this issue only started after I went forced open loop I am going to raise my open loop loads to just above idle levels so I am in closed loop at idle and thats it. I will keep you all posted if this works.

im having this problem right now and im thinking its cause my alternator or a bad grounds somewhere cause as the afrs jump with the rpms i seen my volts on my TT and they cant stay steady they go down to 13 and then back up to 14 and everything in between so far i just raised the idle to about 1000 just a lil bit a go to see what happened and so far i didnt have a bad idle or fluctuating afrs with the volts

also a little something i notice now is i think my boost gauge is slitly off by 1 psi cause on the freeway i hit 10psi to 11 and i went back to my logs and my map sensor showed that hit 12-13 and here i was gonna turn the mbc up but i think ill leave it where its at

Ok so I changed my open loop settings to allow closed loop idle and now my afrs are in check at cold and warm idle. No more 17+ when cold and 11 and below at warm idle . I have a theory. Is anyone else using the 94170715 tephra rom? Seems like alot of you guys are using a different tephra rom than me. Since every rom ID has minor settings differences maybe the 94170715 is just the closest stock one with settings like the stock lancer. Settings that are in tables not yet defined. Just as I figured would happen as soon as I changed my idle back to a closed loop my problem disappeared. Just a thought...

I do still have your rom but not sure what all you have changed since sending my your rom. If you want to send me an updated rom maybe I can find something off.

Got a tactrix cable woo! ok, so what does the "initial IPW startup" table to? Mine was 864ms and i looked at a couple other peoples settings and they seemed to be at 432ms, so i lowered mine to 432ms and it does seem to start up a little easier but mostly only when cold still and not warm. Should i lower this value even more?

I asked Mr. Fred for help on the 399 MAF....he's like, the most genius guy (or one of) I see posting for evos, so I thought he could help us with our idle.

My current theories are....MAF adder differences, MAF Comp vs engine temp, or MAF Size...I don't actually understand how those numbers are used and what would cause the rich idle...but MrFred does i bet, and he could help, lol. Also, I may try the 9417 just because it seems to be a better rom if you have a car with a MAP sensor...but the 9653 is more "Standard" Which is why some people seem to push for it more.

I dunno what the dill is with your startup, but my car does fire up every go these days (it has been cold though), but if you think it'll help, we can both log the car starting hot and cold, then compare and see what the diff is. Also, you can log startup with your stock lancer rom, and try to mimic that with your "tephra" rom...if you have time for trial and error like that, which i'm sure you do.

Ok guys please look at this! here is my completly warm startup. It took several cranks. Please check out my log and look at the IPW/ IDC, and whatever you may find useful. Here is what i have for settings currently:

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, LEFT TO RIGHT: "start IPW latency msec" "initial IPW vs coolant temp" "cranking IPW compensation vs time" "post cranking transient enrichment vs coolant temp#1" "post cranking transient enrichment vs coolant temp#2" BOTTOM: "injector cranking enrichment IPW adder (main)" "injector cranking primer enrichment"

Screen shot of logg while cranking HOT:
