Best intake so far..
I'm goin to be purchasing an RMR sri within the next couple of weeks
so i'm hoping that all the positive things i've heard about them are true. i can't wait! So far i got $100 stashed away, i'd say about another $70-$80 to go and i'll be set. With my next check being quite juicy next week...i can almost hear that rmr sri coming to my door
hahahahha

There is my injen short ram intake. I love it. Very noticable power gains and is the loudest intake out of any car around my southeast michigan area.. lol I'm proud.
Everyone is like.. "how did you get your intake to be so loud?!?" Then I'm like dude its JDM power..
. I was shooting to get a full cold air intake system, but I chose the short ram intake because michigan has crappy winters and my area usually gets flooding in the spring. I am very happy with my intake though.

I got my CAI from ebay and it sux! The part that was supposed to support the whole tupe/pipe broke. After driving for like 10mins on a highway I have noticed my intake was very loud and my idle was jumping from 300 to 1000 rpm back and forth.
I had to come up with an idea so I switched to short ram without using the stock parts (don't have them anymore). As far as I remember the air is coming through the grill so this design should work what you guy think???
And watch out for you ebay crappy intake, the second picture shows that on the bottom the pipe is rubbing against something and is about to brake.

I got my cai off of ebay and it works the best out of a drop in k&n, sri(alot of torque/ too much hot air) In the case above looked like sh--ty welds. NEways cai is the way to go, I think. I got a air bypass and installed it on the intake right below the battery. I works good and doesn't affect the vaccum. I went to the car wash and for fun, soked the old nasty filter with the sprayer, hopped on the highway and mashed for a few minutes, got home with in 10 minutes after leaving the car wash, took the intake apart and not a drop of water on the otherside of the bypass. nice. My point is if you live in an area with crazy weather (like Kansas) the bypass is a pretty good buy! Remeber to reoil your filter after it dries. I know they can go like 50,000 miles w/ out a cleaning, but I clean mine like every 6~or so.

i have the same setup and its awesome.. got my adapter for 10 bux! and my aem filter for $30..lol hook upz!! just like an AEM SRI!! hehe.. very happy..
i got the K&N Typhoon intake. it is really good for a sri, don't be fooled into thinking all sri or cai are the same. i like the typhoon because it removes the stock rubber piping and replaces it with large diameter metal piping. another think i like about it is that it has a huge filter and the intake comes right up to the front of the grill(beside the battery and facing the grill, instead of hiding behind the battery) so it can suck up all that fresh air coming in while you drive. as for gains, i didn't notice any real gain or loss in the low end but at 3k and above the intake screams. definately makes the car feel healthy all the way to redline. i don't think there is really and intake winner cause it all depends on your driving style. i like my short ram cause it gives me good passing power while driving and good throttle response. if your sri intake comes to front, right where the fresh air is coming in it stays relatively cool(you can touch it with your hand). cai will bring in cooler air while you are stopped and that will keep u from bogging down if you drag, but i don't do that so i don't need it. it's all personal preference.
btw: i got my typhoon for $220

Crankcase Breather:
A vent which allows fumes and blow-by gases to escape. It reduces condensation. This breather is usually connected to the air intake of the carburetor so that the fumes can be burned in the combustion chamber

installed my RMR (Rhys Millen) intake last week and am BEYOND insanely happy with it. Nice and quiet when driving normal but if you gun it roars nicely. OUTSTANDING quality, ingenious heat shield. worth every single penny.
I have tried AEM and Injen and this is the first time I can actually feel a difference in power from an intake. Major props to RMR for this Intake.
