i am also going ebay for my intake...

however an ebay muffler...im sure you'll just sound like a honda civic...so i dunno if u wanna go there.

get 2.5" cat-back piping and than a decent muffler(or Ebay w/silencer i guess)

remember...u can always visit ur local hardware store and find some nice piping so u can pipe ur filter where u want to, and also can replace the rubber tubing to the throttlebody/manifold

as i read i saw u said 'muffler only'

i think most shops charge upwards of 50-100 to weld the muffler on...might as well save the extra 100ish up and have them do cat-back piping...just my .02 cents though. i think im holding out an exhaust til HOPEFULLY this summer when me and my bro turbo my car...ill have him pipe my exhaust 2.5" and weld a muffler on the end...maybe a hi-flo cat in there to cuz of IL emission testing

ya dude, dont get just the muffler - save a little longer and you can get the whole exhaust set up. I got mine a 2.25" custom cat-back for 350$ ish with a decent muffler and it sounds awesome.

but i changed my muffler a little bit ago, and had a shop just weld one on and it was 28$. not sure where your located, but i dont think it would be more than 50$ at all if you find a good shop who arnt dicks.

i got my cat back done with a JDM style "greddy look alike" can, ($120), 2.50" piping with flanges and hardware, 22" magnaflow resonator, labour ($160) = $280

sounds way better than the greddy and passes off as an expensive name-brand system. ....fools everyone!!!

i have the ebay adapter plate and, ifeel the slightest amount of extra power. it was really cheap too, i only paid 25 shipped. together with just a muffler id say youd only get like a 3hp gain. it sounds pretty good, but looks terrible, but that doesnt really matter to me bc im saving up for a RRM turbo.

i have a ebay sri on my wifes 02 ES and it was easy to put on, cost like 50$ and does teh same thing as the 200$ one the kids on here boast about. Its the same thing kids, you just pay for a name. the exhaust is next and ill get that off ebay too, paying over 200$ for parts on a car i can get cheap is a waste i think

Thats what im saying syn. All it is, is an adapter with a filter on it a and some come with a heat wall which u can get at auto zone for two dollars. Im going with the ebay sri and just a muffler from ebay too have a place weld it on and im good to go sweet sounds Then im just gonna get rims and a body, maybe a leather interrior and then im done with the car. Im trying to be reallistic i already have 3 speeding tickets with my slow lancer i can just imagine how many more i would get if i make it any faster. Its not like im gonna be a pro street racer in my lancer es

eh mabie you think i payed 550 for the name Greddy on my catback. But I know that that part was enginered to get the best gains out of my car. With the knockoff ebay stuff, yah it may look the same but its not. The RMR intake has a heat shield that can help keep the air semi colder, and the k&n filter is huge allowing the maximum intake. Shure you can just stick a filter on the MAS but then to make shure its the perfect filter you are gonna gotta go dyno it and ****. All i know is that RMR uses the intake that RMR designed for their rally car. So that good enough for me.

Keep in mind that car parts are not clothes, one is not "the same thing" as the other. May look the same but its not.
