Call us for details but a lot of mods can void warranty in the related area but depends. We have MItsubishi dealers that buy downpipes, turbo kits, body kits, springs etc... to install on new cars. I guess no part of the car is sacred. So that really means it is up to the dealer. If you call we can tell you item by item what you need to look out for and what not to worry about etc...

Mitsu may try to void your warranty for any mods you put on the car. The catch is though, that according to law they have to prove that the mods you put on the car caused the warranty work that you need to have done. Simple bolt-ons like intake and exhaust aren't a big deal, but there are other mods that will most definitely void part of your warranty (Turbo, playing with the car's computer chip, other more advanced mods). Just use your head, which mods have a higher risk associated? In any case the dealership will love to try to void your warranty so be prepared if they try to. Heres a link to the SEMA organization, if you look on there you will find specific information regarding the law and warranty work:

Oh yeah, you are lucky i found this thread first. Use the search button next time so no one flames you. It's rare that you'll ever have to start new threads because pretty much everything under the sun has been discussed already

Depends on the dealership.

More specifically, it depends on the problem. If you put on lowering springs and then go in for replacement struts under warranty, they have clear cause that YOU destroyed the struts with the springs.

However, if they claim you caused the motor to die because of the springs, then there's no clear cause there. So if they denied your claim, you could then sue them and they'd have to fix your car.

If I ever go back to a dealer, it'll be cause of a major problem. And since My car has a couple of MODS on it already, and they say they can't do anything, I"ll just be like I have warranty, but just not w/ you! So you have to fix it, and MY warranty will cover it! ha ha

Well, that's how i picture it in my head...lol

I bet if almost any part was brought to the dealer for the install, they'd warranty it. Just so long as they get part of the action ($$$), they'd be okay with it...

Basically, if there is a problem with your car that was caused by the part you put on they can void the warrinty on that part.

ie. If you put in lowering springs your strut assembly warrinty is voided.

If you put in lowering springs and your engine blows, they still must cover your warrinty for your engine as the lowering springs have nothing to do with the engine blowing.

It depends on the dealership. If you have any mods, I wouldn't bring the car to the dealership. If they have installed it, they will cover it.

I have waited until the warranty on the engine before I started to mod the car.
