air filters
[QUOTE=downsh!ft]
no offense but my advise is to not touch your car until you get educated on the subject. many people including me have made this mistake.
there is virtually no horse power difference between filters. the whole point of modifying a car is to make it better, so don't cheap out

as far as wet/dry and searching a few sites (long stories short)
dry good @ filtering out the smallest filters, but less air flow.
.
oiled cotten good @ air flow, not as good as filtering (to a point.) also the oil can become a mess if handed wrong (but how hard can it really be)

yeah we know it fits the 06, he just said it wasn't carb legal. They have to approve for every year even if its exactly the same. I believe the curve is to get the filter up by the grill in direct airflow rather than back behind the battery.

right...oil. There are probably comprable filters to K&N. Im not disputing that. On a lancer you are gonna make like what 2-4 hp? I think as long as you get a good filter that lasts its all good. I know K&N makes filters that last. I have no doubt AEM or some others make great filters but we arnt gonna make any more power I dont think. If that makes any sense.
I read RRm did tests on the stock hose and a smooth one like a AEM. The stock air hose was more efficient then the longer smooth pipes. Thats another reason I went with RRM's Ram air. Plus the CF heat shield is sexy.

I could be wrong, but I think all reputable filters come pre-oiled. You will still have to clean it eventually and re-oil the filter. I doubt the oil on the filter effects the engine or MAF sensor in any way, K&N says it doesn't, AEM says it does, or has in some cases. Who knows?
I've read that about the stock hose/tube that connects to the TB too. I recently took my AEM CAI off because it was rubbing on the fan motor and it started to develope a hole in the tube, It was for manual trans but I got it fit to my auto, I then made a DIY SRI from the MAF adapter of the CAI and the stock hose/tube I mentioned earlier, and used an AEM dry filter. the filter ends up, and fits nicely behind the battery. I also fabricated a bracket to attach the MAF housing to the strut tower, drivers side obviously, it looks alot like the damper that I bought which is on the other side, so they match.
