Stage 3 cam

What are the downsides to a stage 3 cam? like I understand rough idle, ecu, valve clearance, and the addition of an expensive cam gear, but does it do anything to the acceleration? I was told that it would basically make my car slow until high rpms. Mind you this would be on a car with necessary modifications. Stage 3 turbo, pistons and rods, clutch, valve springs, etc.

All the things you said. There's a reason why RPW doesn't recommend you go above a stage 2 on a street car. Call be crazy but when a vendor tells you not to buy their product, it's for a damn good reason.

With anything over RRM's cams (basically stage 2 and up) it requires cam gear, valve springs etc. a tune, and you get a bad idle and maybe a little loss of low end power. Stage 3 cams are worthless unless you are pushing major horsepower. My friend has 272 cams on a 92 MR2 and that thing is ROWDY but idles that a muscle car. And can beat out Evo's ALL day long I might add.

Do you really need a stage 3 cam in a street car?

I think a cam would be better compared to VTEC or something along those lines. Even with all the NA mods out there an NA lancer wouldn't stand a chance against a turboed lancer.

I have 4g94 in mirage. I'm trying to get down to 2100 pounds.

What about mirage from PR. Running 12.9 on street tires.

How often do they blow their motors? PR is like Australia, they're in a world of their own when it comes to cars.
