Well, I just ordered my SRI today from RRM, so I can honestly say that I'm really excited and can't wait to get it in. To me I honestly think the SRI is alot better then the CAI, but that's just from what I've seen on most cars (Acuras, SRT4's, and some EVO's) where the CAI lays like almost even with the front bumper, which will definitely cause some problems if it rains alot, which recently it is here in Jersey lol. But overall from what I've heard, CAI's usually add about 5-8 hp, where SRI's usually add anywhere from 7-11 hp. So overall, I think SRI is the way to go, especially if you're looking for both sound and power.

And as for the dyno testing, hopefully once I get my SRI from Rock, I'll be able to dyno it out 2-3 days after installing it, and post pics if anyone would like

Pics would be great!!!

From what I've experienced, there is an ongoing debate between CAI and SRI. I got both the AEM cai and sri for my 5-speed eclipse. I can say performance was roughly the same but the sri sounded better. I have not dyno'd it to see which performs better, so I guess to each is own.

I think that the intake looks good, But I think that it is going to suck mostly hot air. The stock air box might be restrictive, but it has some heat shielding, and gets fresh air from the front of the car. I would be interested to see the gains of just a high flow drop in filter, like a k&n. The drop in wouldn't sound as good, but it would be a lot cheaper.

SRI is way less restrictive than Stock and we are still utilizing the stock pipe that helps feed cold air to it. Win Win combo.

You would be wasting your money on replacing your stock filter with an upgrade filter in the oem intake setup its baffled and restricked wright off the bat. If you look at where the stock intake pulls in air from the outside you will see how it has an area where the air will slow down in a huge baffle and the vented area where the air gets forced up from the front grill is only like 6"X1.5" vented slots VERY RESTRICKED. You cant even compare that setup to the RRM SRI intake! Like ROCK said the SRI with the stock CAI tube still bring in cold air on it is a great win win combo. I even improved on this with a custom made air dam that rams air into the stock tube! And if that isnt enough for you then buy the new RRM hood that is slotted and vented

I know that the stock air box is restrictive. Most manufacturers make the air box's that way to quiet the car down. I am just worried about the heat soak. I Think rock had addressed this. Since the exhaust manifold is at the back of the engine and the cat is below the car, once the car starts moving it might not be a problem. I think I will wait to see some dyno results before I buy anything.

Please tell me you're doing before/after dyno testing with the intake... if it really makes 10whp, I'll order one immediately (after I wake up from passing out).

I am by no means bashing the intake. I'm sure it rocks, but my concern is paying $170 for a 6" piece of tubing and a filter. Give it about another month and there will be 3-4 different companies with thier own style.

Yeah, the but 6" piece of tubing is specially designed to work with the stock MAF and NOT throw a CEL.

What 3-4 companies? RRM and Works are the only companies designing Lancer parts...
