RRM Short Ram Intake discussion thread
Well I just installed my RRM intake and test drove my car and I am lovin it! Its sound better then my injen intake on my 04 RA ever did. Throtle responce jumps up and it made my RRM exhaust sound even better. Plus I fabricated my own air dam where the orginal vent was so it scoops in air from inside the front grill and pushes it back to the cone filter
This is the air dam I made.
My car has no doubt been greatly improved by these two mods and cant wait to purchase some more I would like to get a pully and race springs next RRM

i really think a heat sheild would be a huge plus here because the filter is not but 8 inches from the exhuast manifold.. i think the design could be more functional, though this is a good start for sure.

I think it needs suddle improvements but over all nice, is this a proto type also? I think it would be nice if these where offered in colors that match our cars. By the time I am ready to by one (Christmas) I am sure you will have improved the design. When you do I will take one in blue please!

I dunno, with it sitting inches above the manifold and to the rear of the engine compartment it seems like it's more of a HAI than anything. Not even sure a shield will do much good except for direct radiant heat... there is a LOT of build up back there I noticed.
Given the placement of the battery and the incredibly twisty path one would have to take (not to mention move the battery, which given some of the connections there may not be an option, or an easy one at least) I think a FWI is totally out. That leaves a ram air hood of some kind I guess, though for me I don't want the expense of a hood and futzing up a look I like already to get that benefit.
Questions on the CAI and exhaust kit: Is a ECU change needed? What gains are you seeing at the wheel and in the comp from that setup? Is a higher end kit being considered that will replace the TB connector and plastic hose for something a bit smoother (or is the hose ridge induced turbulance actually needed/beneficial)?
