I was reading about some people not believing an intake can increase HP or at least 10hp.. well my cousin who really isnt concerned with tuning decided one day to get a CAI from a well known brand and did a base dyno run on his Celica GT-S, then after installing the intake, he got 11hp and 12 lbs of torque

granted this is THE MOST HP I have ever seen an intake make since I have seen most intakes never ever make power (or LESS power) or only make good peak power but hurt performance everywhere else in the powerband.

The RRM intake looks like it should work fine because you have removed the box around it, so it is free to breathe air and using the stock intake tube is good too because it wont absorb underhood heat into the incoming air as much as an aluminum tube. My only concern is the intake temp without the airbox...granted with the box it doesnt breathe as easily, the temp theoretically should be cooler. Breathing a lot of hot air might offset the gains of a less restrictive system.

Im confident the RRM intake will make some gains, I just wanna see if its all around... I didnt want to mod my new GTS cause I have other toys but if it really does make good power, all I can say is "where do I sign"

I am thinking 6-9 HP from the intake, possibly..... just a guess..

1. No probably recommended for higher gains, but not needed.

2. I don't mean to speak for him, but most likely the gains to the wheels might be in the 5hp range give or take 1-2hp.

3. In all honesty the aluminum kits probably will be more difficult to mount, and really won't see too much of a difference if any. As for the hose ridge, its more of a flex hose so it has some ability to move around.

Hope that clears that up! Nice looking engine bay btw.

You answered pretty well. People forget that the engine moves almost 2 inches at the top everytime you rev it or dump the clutch. Rubber section is important for not breaking stuff. and the little bit of rough rubber there is good to help air mixing with fuel later. We saw this on older OZ intakes where we out dynoed AEM and Injen.

OK. First take red battery cable off battery then take out the two little plastic thumb bolts that hold the ram air unit on. Then pull it off. then take out the two bolts that hold the air box on then undo the hose clamp from rubber tube. Remove air box then slip SRI onto rubber tube tighten hose clamp then bolt down SRI were first bolt that held air box on. Then put red battery cable back on and start your car let it idle for about 4-5 min. By takeing battery off while installing you are resetting ECU so it will adjust for more air intake from SRI. Then take your car for a ride and listen to it scream

Just installed mine!

Let's just say at first I was quite disappointed b/c i didn't feel much of a difference, but wow once you start to push it... the mivec kicks in and it SCREAMS! You can tell that its sucking in a lot more air than before.

On the low end... don't feel much... but when i'm pushing it or merging onto the highway... you can definitely feel (and HEAR) the difference. I guess one of the limiting factors of the mivec was the stock airbox.

What I love about it is that I can drive like normal and the car will sound just like it was before - nice and quiet. But when i want to hear it scream... I just push it and BOOM!

In terms of HP, i wouldn't know how to tell how much of a gain... leave it to the numbers from the dynos!

For those of you ordering in Canada, I only paid an additional $16 CAD in taxes when it crossed the border (Toronto). Since it was made in the US, it should be exempt from duties/tariffs b/c of NAFTA - so only GST + PST (or HST) depending on which province.

I installed mine awhile back and at first I was kinda annoyed at the louder sound, especially since theres not much of a sound barrier between the engine and the cabin. But I love it now, sometimes I just like to drive around with the radio and everything off and just listen to it growl lol. And it's great when my girlfriend is in the car and I dont want to hear what she's saying anymore; I just punch it and it drowns her out completly haha

This should greatly speed up the ECU's learning process.
