Hey Black,
If the GTech isn't that precise and you switch to a stopwatch with a 2nd driver; wouldnt that add weight to the launch, where the problem lies?
Unless their is a way he can do it from the outside while you utilize the bluetooth feature to help you mark 60mph. Provided your car has it. or something?

6/25 update:
I've given up on testing the 0-60 time. My numbers were too varied and I'm not really a consistent enough driver to get solid data. So I'm going to leave it to the true number ******.
What I did do instead was some real-life testing...
Autocross
The Lancer held up well. Handling was solid and predictable. Very solid for a stock car. I'll be very interested to see how the 08 stands up to some modifications in the future.
Traction was a serious issue on the stock All-Season tires. Some of this may relate to my "aggressive" driving style. I'll definitely be upgrading to better rubber before I try AX again.
Power was good, especially in manual mode. The gearing was good and I never needed to leave first and second.
Racing
Hit up my local racetrack with a buddy.
Me: 2008 GTS with CVT, RRM intake
Him: 2005 OZ, manual transmission; with SRI, Kamikaze header, RRM test pipe, Buschur catback
From a stop: OZ wins easily. No doubt this relates to the horrible take-off of the auto CVT tranny. We even switched cars, so the driver was not the issue.
Fron a roll @ 40mph: GTS wins. Pulls ahead and stays ahead.
Thoughts: some of this is surprising. Some isn't. The manual's ability to make more low-end power gave it an easy advantage in the "from a stop" trials, even with the mods that are aimed more at high-end HP. The 4B11 seems to make more power when it's rolling, so the win from a roll makes perfect sense to me.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
0-60 testing
June 8th - 10.6 and 10.7 in manual mode, 11.7 in D
June 9th - 8.63 in manual
All tests performed with an aging GTech Pro unit... take it for what it's worth (and with a grain of salt).

Nice post. Informative. I didn't know you had already scooped up the intake.
Good call.
