I knew they would take the easy way out and bend the pipe. They should have dont the relocator kit option and move the battery, its more expensive but performance should beat out that what they did. Note: This image was sourced from http://z3.invisionfree.com/2008_Lanc...416&st=0&#last

If all the big companies do there CAI like this, then i guess I am going to have to create a straight pipe CAI. I inquired to INJEN about there CAI, i really thoughtthey would do the straight pipe instead a wrap around.

Not to knock it though, a wrap around so long is the bend is perfect, the additional length should give it better mid and high response, But further robbing low end. And we all know what our low end sounds and looks like already heheh

lol and one more thing Note: This image was sourced from http://z3.invisionfree.com/2008_Lanc...416&st=0&#last

Dont ever cut your plastic panals for the sake of gettin more air in there, in wet weather this is one way you are going to get crap on your filter, and if its enough water and crap, how you end up with hydro lock. of the 3 people i have seen do this. They are generally saying, Ahhhh CAI suck, they gave me hydro lock and blah blah blah

That is horrible. A 160* bend in any intake a terrible for decent airflow. I will have to see "tru" dyno sheets on this and not "claimed #s" before I make a final verdict. They are going to have to prove beyond a shadow of doubt that this design is superior over the SRI. Looking at this poor design, its casting a 30' shadow.

I like how it replaces more of the stock tubing but the curve is a major downside. and can you bolt up the filter end of the pipe easily because it looks like he had his bumper off for some reason and I'm hoping that is not the case for a cai install.

this intake looks like it made as many bends as possible before finally getting down to the wheel well.

The best idea i can see for a cold air would be to place the battery somewhere else so that the intake pipe could go 'straight' down into the wheel well.

unless there literally is nowhere else this battery could go...?

looking at my engine bay more and more pisses me off they put the battery right near the damn throttle-body/intake piping

The theory is that so long as you have length, bends generally dont hurt flow that much. But there is an impact. You lose out on the low end the most. so your looking at a few points loss HP and TQ Vs. SRI.

But High End should remain intact.

LOL your talking to a guy who got a C+ all the way thru Science class for just not trying. lol but from dynos i have seen of other cars ... generally bends like that hurt low end I beleive

Again, I will have to see the dynos, but right now I'm thinking the SRI may edge this design out. Especially for what our cars were designed for. In rally or road race you won't need that top end. So theoritically you would only benefit from this $200+ mod on the highway and suffer in city driving.

lol lets start the bets, gather round boys lets start the betting pool.

My bet is that this CAI beats all SRI incarnations hans down above 3100 RPM and higher.

lol now we just need the dyno...
