Will do.

Sorry, just noticed I posted in the Lancer forum. I guess the filters all use the same material anyway.

The color of the "filter" does change as the pigment is located in the oil. The fabric of the filter itself is white (which will gray with exposure to dirt and debris it's filtering out). The color can serve as an indicator that it needs to be serviced, but it's not exact. I just serviced my filter with my previous oil change (45K) and have barely driven the car for months due to a slipping clutch. I just changed the clutch, engine oil, etc... at 48K and took a peek at the filter, which has lost its blue coloration, but otherwise checks out fine. I'd say that time will allow the pigment to evaporate/break down almost as much as usage.

We give a recommended service interval of roughly 10K-12K miles, but will need some adjustment based on the conditions you drive in. Obviously, those playing in the dirt need more maintenance than those in cleaner environments. I check mine with each oil change and knock out some of the larger debris. In the end, the filter should be serviceable for the life of the car barring any unforseen damage.
