Yes, took my new 2008 lancer to the track this weekend, results were less than stellar, but my car is 99% stock.
only mod's, RRM intake.
1st run of the day, pulled a 17.005 at 83 mph with a reaction of .132
2nd run of the day, got a 17.3xx ( dont remember the rest), speed of 78 mph and reaction time of .432
( I Had a crappy start off the line and granny shifted into 2nd
)
3rd run of the day, got a 17.010 at 81 mph and .278 reaction time.
So basically what i gather is the 08's are a 17 second car. Im not disappointed or mad, my car is basically stock and i'm just using this as a comparison for when i do other mods to see what i gained.
Fontana Race TRack, southern california....Air temp was 105 degrees!!!
MODS::: if this is posted in wrong section, please move to right one kthxbai

Yeah, I was at the Street Legal Drags at Fontana myself yesterday and it was very hot. That headwind was also very brutal. Those two factors will definitely keep you from running your best.
not too bad..was it a MT or CVT?
i have the CVT my best time was about 16.4 @ 91
thats with piggy exhaust intake pully
on a breezy day about 65 degrees
i found it best to shift out 1st and 2nd with sport mode and time when you switch to D around 6rpm and it holds steady

I forgot to mention as EVO pointed out, the head wind down the track was insane.....it was putting too much unneccasary force against the cars going down the track.
We couldn't even put up our tarp becasue the wind was lifting it off the ground......tied the ends with spare tires, but then it just bent the metal frames
so we took it downi got so sun burnt
08 lancer CVT
your take off makes a BIG diff..i tried pumping it in N to build up some and it kinda work it just sucks that the car automatically goes back down after about 5500rpm and we cant hold it high
yeah i had the wind going against me at times too..it sucks..

no no no no no no, never wanna rev the car in neutral then slam it into D , you will just mess something up by doing that.
PUt the car in D, hold on the brake and rev the car.........you dont wanna redline it casue you will get wheel spin and lose precious seconds , then when the tree is gonna hit green just take ur foot off the brake, give it more gas to avoid wheel spin than just slam the pedal to the metal and let the transmission do the rest
BTW i was launching around 3k rpms, anything higher than that and it would've done more harm than good

Lol, about the sunburn. I managed to still get sunburnt myself even though I sat in my car most of the time. Every person that I saw trying to set up their tarp ended up giving up after a couple of tries
. The wind was pretty bad.
I was in my wingless silver Evo. I usually run 12.50's @ 111 at that track but with the heat, wind, and mabe some bad gas I ran much slower. 12.80's @ 105 was the best I could do yesterday.

it was fun tho.....i'll go again......on a night track with.......less wind
CVT- i heard from another thread (dont remember which) that if you put it in 1st, floor it to redline, or wherever ur comftorble leaving it at, and put in in auto, it will accelerate at that rev speed rest of the run, very useful, i beat my own car knowing this
i did that..ran .2 secs slower going straight from first...after shifting 1st..2nd then D i ran .2 faster
