To all those I told notrous was safe-lol
I had the plug problem, but only one electrode bent. I had no signs of detonation. It was a NOS brand kit and it happend on the first shot, I tried again and it was real strong for 3 shots and then another electrode bent. Thats when I deciced to get rid of it, not even half a bottle made me realise that our motors can't handle that crap. I will tell you one thing, I smoked one of those 260 hp Maximas and a hatch civic with a GSR motor. then I tried to showoff to my wife and she yell at me " I told you that you were gonna blow it up!" Lucky it was just a plug.
What happened when you bend the plug. Did the car die. I havent tried to start my car or even turn it over once it had died. I am going to do a compression test before tearing it down. I didnt have any signs of detonation either. No popping nothing. Ever. I probably should replace the pistons, the nitrous is like a drug. It gives the lancer an unbelievable amout of power. I have smoked all kinds of rides with it. I want to go with a turbo. I have a garrett t25 in my garage. I would love to get the road race kit but it just is not in my budget at this point. I wonder if road race will sell the manifold and down pipe seperate frm the kit? Anyone ever asked.
I just bent the plug back to get home and then regapped it. Next day I went to the autoparts store to get new plugs. then reset the comp to get rid of the CEL. my car actually runs a little better (a real brake in). Seriously I had no other damage. the first time it happened the car died. It started like it had a dead battery turning over very slowly. I drove it on three cylinders to get home(about a mile) checked the plugs first for pieces of metal and saw the bent electrode. regapped it and it ran fine. tried the juice again and the car shot like crazy. trid latter that night and another electrode bent, but this time it didn't stall, just sounded like it developed a tap and ran on 3 cylinders. the tap sound was the sound of the spark arcing to the valvecover. as for the turbo kit I know they make a hacker kit that has a T-28, up and downpipes, oil lines and heat wrap for $1900. With that you have to fuel and do all the plumbing yourself.
I changed my plugs, started it, definately some seriously wrong in there. Sounds really bad. So I bought a set of forged pistons from road race today, It really sucks cause turn around is like 4-6 weeks. I thought about going to the dealer and buy one piston, and then replace all four when I get the others in. The gasket set is 176 at the dealer and that is the only place that I could find that has them. I am not pullin the motor I am just gonna drop the pan and take the head off. Pop the pistons out the top. SHould be good to go. But, who wants to do that twice? I found a really cheap CRX today. lol
If you just do a 30 shot, colder plugs , and retard 1 or 2 degree timing I dont see how you can blow your engine.
Also make sure you use copper plugs not platinum or iradium
that should be safe isnt it ??
