Which Engine?!?

I know this question will probably make me seem like an idiot but I swear I'm not. I bought a 08 GTS recently and have been trying to find out which engine I have so i can start finding parts. Some places I've looked say its the 4B11, while others say its the 4B12. Which one should it be? i can't find any markings on the engine at all. Also, I can't figure out if the engine is 2.0L or 2.4L. Any help or suggestions on how I can figure out? Or if someone can just tell me that would work also.

4b12 was scrapped after 2010, all the 2011's are only offered with the 4b11 2.0l. The GTS trim was scrapped all together

get your facts straight, this did not occur in the USDM .

we still have the gts and the 2.4l engine.

Whoops, I was speaking for the Canadians, I was assuming it was scrapped for the USDM as well, my mistake.

your both right. Mitsubishi is likely to be done with the Lancer 2.4L. the decision was made late in the game so they already made the allocation needed for another production year. 2011. But as a betting man, I wager that you will not see the 2.4 beyond this production year. The 2.4L was not a wise strategic move by Mitsu, only because the aftermarket has refused to support it or do anything with it. Remember the 2.4L does not exist anywhere else in the world except north America. The logic they were likely following is the fact that Dodge was doing it why dont we?

Another reason why the 2.4L platform didnt make sense is because the Ralliart power output was 230's in HP. ideally the GTS 2.4 could have been optimized for more HP and TQ, getting the HP closer to 200. But... that wouldnt make sense because the Ralliart is already there. Its a clash of marketing. The fact that the 2.4L got off the ground was a surprise. It would have likely been a success if Mitsubishi followed their initial idea and optimized the engine for 200 HP.

not gonna lie..in terms of daily use my 2.4L sounds much better than th 2.0L... it just doesn't sound like its straining and is much smoother. Purely my opinion though...

So, wonder if my 2009 GTS will be higher value cause of it's 'rareity'

next question to ask yourself OP is if the 4b11 you have is federal emissions or low emissions.

easy way to tell is looking at your ecu.
if it ends in 752 you have a pzev anythin this ele is federal emissions here in the states.gh
