Can the CVT Handle track use/hard driving?

i was just curious. can a lancer gts with minimal mods like exhaust, intake, headers. since i hear the CVT was designed for economy. can i track it? can i drive it hard like i do sometimes? we set up a little obstacle corse before at my school and our cars ran through it and i would take some hard corners and the wheel would smoke and scream. i can't help but think the way everyone says how the CVT can't handle much, that its deteriorating my transmission.

The straight answer is no. The mitsu's CVT is not made to handle a beating in any situation. Doing it every now and then is acceptable but you will eventually cause damage if you are doing things like auto-x.

I have a friend with an 09 GTS with around 40k miles on it who went to the track earlier this year and did 2 runs down the quarter. When he started to go for his 3rd run his tranny went into limp mode, it took almost 2 hours before it would work again. In the end he wound up going to the dealership to have it checked out and wound up having to replace his fluid. So personally I would avoid it if I were you.
