Dohc
I can tell you this.... hopefully, if I ever finish my turbo kit in a few weeks, I, like my predecessors before me, will have at least 300 whp in my little SOHC.
I know people that have done it, and I will as well. Entirely possible.
Likewise Hobie, had I known what I was doing initially with my Mirage, I would have been turbo'ed long ago.

i looked into this question about the DOHC head swap and looked at pics of the g94 block and a bunch of different mitsu DOHC heads from eclipses to evos and even neon r/t's and the like and the heads are totally off. on some of them the mounting holes are close, but thecoolant and oil passages are all wrong on ALL of them. granted the DOHC head may not give you much gain in actual hp numbers, but it will change the performance of your car by allowing different curves, rev limits etc to be reached and i think you'd find that the car would perform better though not have an actual hp increase so to speak.
It has to be within the engine family w/ the rightside T-belt orientation. H&A follows the same rule too, ie B-series engine. You don't see H-series cyl head mating to a B-series block.
A Virage in taiwan can make 130-135 HP w/ 3 cat converters on a 4G93E . . . basically the same HP as the last gen 'tegra LS but w/ better TQ from Mitsu design of the intake mani. Look at the Proton Satri GTI (t-belt faces the wrong way) . . . makes about the same power.
