CAI vs SRI

I've always assumed that a CAI was better for a car than short ram, but i seem to be seeing alot of people using SRI on their mitsubishis, however ive noticed a bit of an over-heating problem on my GTS (probably my fault but im fixing it) so i would go for a CAI over the short ram, but is there really a chance of getting water in the CAI when compared to the SRI? i started hearing that from people and i was a bit concerned.

Sorry if there is an obvious answer, im used to motorcycles not cars

Unless you live in an area with extreme flooding or huge puddles, I wouldnt worry about getting water in the CAI

The only way to get water in there is to run through a flooded area. It may even be least of your worries when you need enough water to submerge your whole underbody and probably end up with water in your exhaust to do it. Of course still safer to take off cold air intake in winter if your plow through the snow.

I live in canada where there is a ton of snow/puddles/rain and i havent had any troubles. The transmission makes a very nice shield.

You Sir, I am jealous of. lol

But anyway, I haven't had any issues with overheating with an SRI, and I've only heard of one case of someone flooding their engine with a CAI, but that was because they WENT through a lake in a rainstorm. haha You should be fine,.

Yes, there really is a chance. I hydro-locked my old Ralliart during heavy storms down here in Texas once. If you have a CAI, and are concerned with hydro-lock, get an AEM Bypass Valve.
