How exactly would you go about making a custom cold air intake?

What would be the better modification to make? The first choice would be the piggyback for the ECU and the second choice would be a combination of a cold air intake, throttle body, and possibly exhaust. I can't afford to do both of the choices, so I'm trying to decide which one would be better and give me the most horsepower increase. Thanks for your help!

well its been discussed... and really the cold air isn't that much of a difference in hp to make a diff if your not gonna go out and seriously race your car out... the sri shoud be fine especially if thats all you can put in without some mods... because you'd still have to relocate your battery

i say go with the intake, tb, def exhaust system... maybe the magnaflow, greddy, or a generic with custom piping

I agree with looksfast. Besides being fast with all those mods it will sound much better and the exhaust tip will look better and all that good stuff.

Have you considered Buschur Racing? They sell both intake, exhaust, and other parts as well. Did I mention they may still be on sale (cat-back: $375 > $315, sri: $160> $125) and proven hp gains per ImportTuner and their dyno, not many can claim that!

Since you're already getting the piggyback and you can only get 2 of the other three (throttle body, intake, and exhaust), I'd suggest the RRM short ram intake and magnaflow exhaust. Best bang for the buck. By the way, RRM rocks but look elsewhere for a good deal on the magnaflow.

Yes, the most worthy upgrade path for the engine starts with intake and exhaust. Then header, cat, TB, mani, etc.

best gains at a low price

intake- rmr sri, or rrm sri
exhaust- custom w/ universal muffler
tb- rrm
ecu-rrm

if you want 271hp

ripps supercharger 3899.99

as of rrm i think their kits gives you around 240-260hp
for 3999.99.

there stage 2 turbo is really good though.

correct me if i am wrong guys.

Shoooooot(shoot not shot)...Hey go to ebay and you can get your moneys worth. i guess you get what u pay for but the CAI's on there for 60 bucks or what not will give u hp n a nice sound. they got lots of stuff on there u can get for a nice price so check it out unless u wanna pay for a 200 aen or injen to a 60 on ebay...you aint goin to gain too much from either one unless u save up for a turbo thas when u get hp.. so think bout it
