Engine making noises Help!!
I recently noticed that my engine is making noises also, and I'm really unhappy about the way it sounds when revving down.
I took my lancer to the dealer about a month ago to get the oil changed and tires rotated, since then I think the noise is more noticable. I had them put Mobil1 5W-30 in it, anybody run their lancers with synthetic?
Questions , should I have the oil changed again in hopes of softening the lifters racket?
And, where can I get a grounding kit specifically for the 2002 OZ Lancer?
My idle is horrible, 5-600 and it shakes and it really feels like it wants to just shut off.
Any thoughts are appreciated

There are two things: 1) People are too paranoid and hoping their cars be as quiet running like an oldsmobile. If so, you're majorily lying to yourself. Try driving a mid 90's escort w/ noisy electronic motor ticking. 2) is the noise heard inside the cabin or standing outside the car? If it's the latter, it's pretty normal. Try using thicker oil like 10w40. It should quiet it down. If you want loud lifter ticking noise, try using 100% 0w30 like I had done in my LS coupe. I drove some of my DSM'ers batty. Then again, I had valvetrain noise, not the sound of worn lifters or running so rich that it's burning up the valves. There is a difference.
If you have a manual, under 600 rpm is the point where you will start to stall. If you have auto tranny, hitting under 700 rpm will stall the car out. Your aftermarket intake system is the cause, or you have damaged your MAF.

i just had my oil changed and it made the noise a little less ticky, If you have mods watch the jerks at the dealership I caught the guy romp on myne. He said it was beacuse I have my pedals close together and he had big feet. I left all my mods on and they didnt say anything about it.
