Thumbs up

From the first time I heard about the
WRX coming here, I waited almost 2 years. Rumor had it that it would come out the following year. Once Subaru of America announced the arrival of the WRX, they released it the following year after that. (in addition to the waiting list...yada...yada)

Sounds kinda the same with the EVO. I think I could wait. Plus i learned from experience with my WRX (which will become my daily driver/beater).

BTW, hearing this news gave me a boner.

Wasn't the Evo VII's JDM price reduced from the VII, making it a little cheaper than the STi?

I just spoke with a dealer in MA again about the Evo now that we have seen the official release. They were still under the impression that I would be able to order come the end of January and they were hoping to see them in March. This is what they told me before too. Although, as she said to me, "you probably know more than us". They said to call back at the end of January for more details. I'm not holding my breath on ordering one until I see something more concrete. She didn't have any details on options yet. Who knows maybe someone said January to them and they are thinking 2002 when it will actually be 2003. I'lll keep checking with them.

Docious, yes the price of the 7 was reduced significantly from the price of the 6, but I ain't too sure that it's cheaper than an sti.

I've heard more than once that the VII is just below the STi. Can't remember where I heard it though...

To my knowledge at least in the UK the Evo is more expensive than the Sti.... in Japan it could be a different story, on the 11th okitenik will be back in the house in Japan and will be able to confirm or deny this...

Post Just some US Spec EVO news from DSMers'

Hey all,

I just wanted to relay some info that the DSMer's have been gathering about the US Spec Evo 7.

1. The LA Autoshow has a Yellow EVO 7, with FMIC and the whole kit and kaboodle. Unfortunately it is a EVO 7 Jap Spec version with right hand drive and everything.
2. Some guys got connections in to Mitsu Motors Corp of USA, and after talking with their connections Mitsu still has not decided upon the exact details of what "variant" of the Evo 7 will be released to the USA.
3. US Spec will retain a FMIC, but will move it 9 inches towards the engine. For US Spec Collision requirements (Yes I know this is impossible, since this will resulting in hitting the Turbo and Engine Block, but im just reporting what info we have been discussing)

Just a few points that I can think of which have been discussed by the DSM forums I am in.

IN my opinion, I would prefer a detuned version of the EVO 7, cheeper to buy, cheeper to insure.... Ill just take it to my Neighborhood DSM shop, slap on a FMIC and Boost controller, and wala my own SLice Of Evo Heaven.
