I would highly recommend buying a set of kartboy exhaust hangers, they hold the exhaust firmly.

size of pipes for 06 ES

What is the size of the stock pipes for the 06 ES, R/A; OZ? Also, I read somewhere here that the Greddy's are the best muffler system for the regular Lancers? I was gonna get a universal Magnaflow. Should I switch?

if you can afford a real greddy exhaust system i say go for it
my plan is to get 2.25" piping and either buy a universal muffler from ebay or get a magnaflow from the shop =/

GReddy is good, but pricey. You can get the same basic thing going custom, etc. With exhaust, it's all about piping and muffler. Just pick what you like on those two and you're good.

I don't know the stock sizing. The 4G94s usually use 1.75" exhaust stock, not sure about RAs.

They hold good but sometimes too good. If things are too rigid, you have the possibility of cracking a flange or something. The only crack exhaust /dp etc I have ever seen was a car with the aftermarket hangers. FYI

So, on my plain-jane ES, I can change the piping after the cat to 2.25" and swap out the muffler to a, lets say, Magnaflow and performance should equal to a Greddy?

It's just piping, it's not like greddy uses ultra awesomo blend steel.

Our experience has been t hat the Magnaflow does = the Greddy.

If all you care about is sound, just get a muffler shop to weld on a nice muffler.

Unless you have a modified engine, a full catback is pointless. At most you'll gain many 2 hp and call me crazy but I don't think you'd want to spend 400$+ to get 2 hp.

An axleback is just that, an exhaust that goes from the axleback. It consists of the muffler and short section of piping. It's sorta like a system inbetween a full catback and just muffler. To be honest I don't think it's worth it as it has the worst of both worlds. It costs more than just a muffler, but it doesn't give the gains (if any) of a catback.

Custom is fine but if you do not want that , we have an axelback. No need for a catback for sure.
