Man, just look at the difference between the stock rod and the new ones.

Yeah, the stock rods are so scrawny. I knew they were going to be thin, but I had no real idea until I pulled them out. The biggest thing to me though was the damage to the pistons. I was kinda wondering how my block got away with out a single scratch on the cylinder walls. Not that I am complaining

alright, this is the valve cover after powdercoating. I need to do a lot of touch ups. But its so easy, I don't mind. I think I am going to do the oil pan also, gonna paint it black. I want to do the intake manifold too, but I am going to wait when I port and polish later down the line.

So what caused all the buildup on the pistons?

Think he mentioned blow-by... Anyhow, do you already have the supported mods for the P&P head? IM, TB, exhaust, etc? If not, it's time now! It'll be one killer of a ride once it's tuned. Any thoughts of psi you'll be running after the build-up?

I am gonna have to wait on the IM and TB. I have the RRM header and I'm stage 2. I had saved up for this for awhile, but even then it only covered so much. It shouldn't take me long at all to save for those two things. Then of course I need to get a new clutch and maybe LSD.
I am hoping to be able to run 12psi, not daily though. Just for track days.
Oh yeah, I had a lot of blow by, another reason why I needed to start on the engine rebuild. If I could have waited I would have kept saving up for the IM and TB and just knocked out everything at once.

looks pretty good, and I bet less than half the price of getting it professionally done or paying for another one and mailing yours away...

My Dad owns the powder coater. The powder is like six bucks but comes in a small bag, just enough though to do one application (depending on what your coating). So yeah, in the long run its better than paying for someone else to do it.

everything looks like it is going along good, cant wait untill you get your head back, put her back together and take her for a spin. It should feel pretty awesome. How much are you looking at by the time you are done? Oh also, i love your dog, bulldogs are so awesome. Are you doing the timing yourself, or having help? well good luck with everything.

Thanks. I'll have to break everything in before I can get on it, but yeah I can't wait to be able to get to see what kind of gains I'll have.
Timing, yeah my Dad and I are doing that. Not really that hard.
