Engine rebuild time
Has anything else head-wise been upgraded? Valves, springs, retainers, cam? if they are even available... I think at 12 psi would be a great DD; but could even do more for track with that upgraded clutch of course.
It really is funny how you're labeled "newbie" still, but you've done 98% more than your normal EvoM member here (engine-wise).

Oh yeah sadude, the pistons themselves are rated to handle 1000hp (just going by what I was told). Of course my car will never see that.
With my setup I'm sure I'll be able to net 250-300 hp, at least (max psi). Maybe more with tuning. I'll just have to see when I get up on a dyno. Maybe, I'll get more than I expected.

Yeah the 12lbs is just the safety net really. I don't have an upgraded clutch yet, and I will wait to dyno to see exactly how far I can push it. I really like to lowball everything, that way I won't right off the bat push it to the limits.
as far as valvesprings, cam, etc. They are all stock. I had the head shop do a full inspection of them, to make sure they were good for use. There weren't any bent vavles or leaks. Thats good enough for me right now.
I am actually waiting on more reviews from the RRM camshaft to pop up. Maybe there will be some competitors too. We'll see.

Are there any aftermarket valves for our Lancers? That would let you take more advantage of the P&P head and the RPW/RRM cam combo that way. Like on the turbo'd Civic's, the springs and retainers (OEM) are good for 8k rpm plus 12 psi easy, but the valves might be an issue. Might look into it if you haven't already.
well, I got everything put back together today. Good news is the car started. Bad news is, it hard starts. Once its running its fine, although the lash chatter is loud as all hell. Also I have a leaky oil pan. I gotta drop that tomorrow. It runs fine, once it gets goin that is. But to crank it, I have to have WOT, it sputters and sits at like 100rpm and then it gets going. It will stay on too. Any ideas, I am quitting for the night. I'll get back on it tomorrow. I'm going to check for all the usual culprits. Maybe I have a line backwards or something.
Well my Dad and I think it may be the fuel pump. We just started the car after about 5hrs of sitting. It cranked up right away. It was a little rough. We did a second crank and it started harder. A few more cranks later, and it seemed to get worse, it still cranked eventually. I noticed that when it was stumbling at 100rpm the pump was whining real low and then the pitch kicked up and the rpm's came back to normal. So we just might order a new pump.
Well, I got a fuel pump on the way. We'll see if it fixes it. I have the oil pan redone also. It was a good thing the oil pump leaked. After I had it down, I started cleaning it. I left it in the sun to dry off. The next thing I did was to take a look at my rods. My Dad wanted me to recheck the torque on the rod bolts since the pan was down. When I did, I got a 1/4 of a turn out of #'s 3 &4. I retorqued em, banged on them a bit and then retorqued em. Should be good now.
