weird question
weird question
ok this may seem like a really weird question to some people and i was wondering if you other people who have 03 oz lancer could mess with the car by how you turn ur car on. it seems and been proven that when i turn my car on with the a/c already on then just go with out the car warming up then turn the a/c off once i get going for like a minute my car is quicker then when i just turn the car on with out hte a/c on. i know that a/c robs powe and what not but when i start it up that way i can be my civic. but when i dont start it up that way i cant beat it. i know many people will say im crazy but my friend with the civic will agree with me saying that it is different. so i was wondering if anyone knew of this or know why this happens or if it even happens to ur car. i know im not just feeling things because i race my friend all the time and everytime it works. so can someone explain this for me
You are just crazy! jk
Maybe it's cuz when you start ur car without warming it up there is cold air in the engine which would make ur car go a bit faster than if u warmed ur car up and ur engine was hot? Don't quote me, but it's the only thing I couls think of.

you shouldnt be racing from a cold start to start with, and you sure its your car that faster and not the civic being slower cuz of being cold?
^+1
A/C does slow u down, but the way u turn ur car on and off doesnt doesnt make u slower or faster.but it is better to let ur car warm up fully, it runs better.Well atleast mine does.

normal operating mode doesn't happen until it gets the okay from the sensors that the engine is warm. it's possible that timing is further advanced during this time since it increases engine temps. when the car is warmed up, timing maps go back to normal.

Well as far as the running your car from a cold start and it feeling is faster it is true but there is a reason. The reason is "at least from my understanding" is the ECU has a more agressive map because the ECU is not reading the data from the MAF and Cats because there is not enough data to adjust fuel and things like that. It has to do with the "open loop""closed loop" thing. Since the car does not have enough data on load conditions its in open loop until it gets the data (which would take around 10-15 minutes or so) then it goes to Closed loop when it has the data from load conditions.
When you feel that "pull" with your ac on I feel that too and its true; but there is a reason for that also. I'm pretty sure you feel that pull around 4K right? Thats our major torque curve. You don't feel crap before then right? It feels like you just got a boost because you power curve went from low then just shot up. Get it? Itstead of a gradual curve you got an exponential curve.
yea i just wanted to make sure everyone else was feeling the same thing cuz it was weird none of my other cars do that. but thanks for the info everyone makes me feeling not like a crazy person that everyone else feels the same thing
