An ode to Road///Race...
An ode to Road///Race...
You know, I think that you Lancer people don't appreciate everything that Road///Race has done for our community. I mean, without them the lancer would be the bottom-of-the-line econobox rental car almost everyone sees them as... but since RRM has stepped in and built that monster drag car of theirs our lancers have a decent amount of respect. In the process of building the drag lancer they have developed a rather decent selection of aftermarket products for our lancer that all the other vendors put together could'nt match. Not only did they bring us these products but they also offer their expertise when we ask for it. I hardly see any other vendors offer support for the products they sell, I won't mention specific names for the sake of not causing any ruckus.
Just a couple days ago I picked up some Tein SuperStreets from RRM and ran into some trouble during the installation. I drove my car over to RRM and Rob himself took time out of his VERY busy schedule to take a look at my problem. Now that's what I call customer support!!! He also pointed out that I needed to replace some dangerously worn out parts that could have damaged my new Teins, something I would have never realized on my own. I am very appreciative for everything RRM has done for me and the lancer community as a whole.

I agree. Most members here, especially the ones that have been around a while, know what RRM has done. We just don't go around chanting RRM in posts. I think of late with the introduction of A2 with some cheaper products. More threads are about A2 because lancer owners are happy to see lower prices coupled with quality but its not like RRM dissapears.
If that makes any sense. lol
I know that RRM is the best out there for the lancer. Most people already know that too. I just wish I lived in southern california. To this day I have never talked to another lancer owner in person. If I ever do I will point them to the RRM website.

When I installed my progress springs I didnt torque the top nut on the struts enough... so the whole assembly was slightly loose at the top (not noticable enough when its off the car, but enough that the weight of the car when turning can shift it). It ate away at the thread at the top of my stock shocks, I had the progress springs on for about 50,000 miles and it just about ate 1/2 way through the top of the threaded portion of my stock shocks. The wear was done to the black part that has the 3 bolts sticking out that hold the strut to the strut tower in the engine bay. I'll put up pictures when I post my how-to on installing tein coilovers.

If I remember reading correctly, A2 is run by a gentleman as a hobby, something he does with his spare time. Sure A2's products are cheaper, but you gotta keep in mind that RRM has an actual shop with their own car to test fit their products and staff dedicated (their sole job) to making quality parts for the Lancer. Again, dont take this as me putting the gentleman behind A2 down but has he tested his products on a lancer? Is anyone out there running A2's turbokit? Im not trying to put A2 down, but this is the reason RRM has to charge more for their products... because they put alot of time and effort into R&D and full on production of their products.
But I completely disagree that RRM "has" to charge more for their products. Up until this point they have been a monopolist for most things and they have charged more because they can. e.g., Ported IM does not take that much R&D, but who else in the US does these things? I'm just speculating, but I think the high-priced items like the IM and PB have been huge profit centers for them. There's just no way that the R&D could justify that much markup. Meanwhile Phil's margins are razor-thin.
Suddenly Accolade and A2 realize the potential for making $$ and RRM drops their prices on a lot of things. Again, not because they "have" to, but because of competition.
I think it's good that RRM is around. I don't buy much from them, but like I said their turbo kits are great and they have the best selection in the US. But I do think that, at least in part, they charge high prices because they can.
nah. I didnt take it as a dig at A2 at all. I was just saying RRM hasnt been in the "lime light" recently with the products A2 is throwin out. but that doesnt meen we forget about RRM.
I also agree rrm has good stuff, were not here to take over, just to make our spot in the market. Which we have done, and right now were doing the amount of sales we had intended to do, not to much, not to little.

We love RRM and we appreciate what they've done for the Lancer community.
At the same time, it's personal preference on how much the average user will be an RRM fanboy. Some people feel they overprice (but that's capitalism, you'll always have it). Some people don't like the way they do business (can't please everyone). Etc.
Mostly, Kareem, YOU just need to accept that not everyone is as outwardly showy about their feelings. I like RRM, but I don't feel the need to make an "ode" to them...
