Front ECU

Okay...

A NEw problem as popped up out of nowhere in my car and I cant seem to figure out a solution to it.

I"m sitting in the car and I start to hear a whinning noise. Sounded like a ground or something from the speakers, but then i realized that wasn't it. I step outside the car and I hear it in the engine bay. I open my fuse box next to the battery and it's my Front-ECU making the noise. I'm like WTf?

The funny part about this is that it's
1. scaring me and I hope it doesn't mess up anything else?
2. What exactly does the front ecu do? Control the electrical side of things?
3. The noise goes away only when I turn on my lights. When I set it to the first interval on the knob, right before the headlights go on, it stops.

When it whines it makes my headlights flash occasionally. Keep in mind I have HID's and they are wired correctly. Never had an issue in years, til now.

Can someone help me out and hopefully give a scope as to what may be causing this type of problem?

not sure if its related, but it sounds like my ecu, behind the glove box, is very noisy. have not tested with lights or heater or anything on yet but ill look into it. i havent thought anything of it as i have no problems.

Nah but mine isn't the one behind the glove box. That's the main ECU on the car.

My problem is the one in the Engine Bay... Front ECU. The green big one.... it's making noises. Could it be bad..?

Here in AUS. the CG Lancers are fitted with immobilizes. Not bragging…as a trade off we don’t get the option of the cruise control :-( .

Thks Vance.

But regardless, I'm going to look into my HID setup. It may be causing some sort of feedback to the "Green Block that no one realized they had" Front ECU. lol...

I'll keep ya posted.

Since when do we have an ECU under the hood of the car? Or is that part of the HID setup?

refer to post #5. it's kind of an accessories ecu. not essential for engine control.

Yea somehow the problem had gone away in the car. The HID kit I had in my lancer was causing ground or over-power feed back to the ECU and caused it to make noise. lol

I eventually swapped it out for a better quality one, and the problem just away by itself. I then got rid of the car.

Drive an 06 IX now.
