Thanks for the compliment... but I don't feel as though I deserve that. I am just trying to bring something new to the table... just so that you guys can see that it can be done.

Whats the point in buying an evo and having the fun stuff already done to it. I'd get more of a kick out of building one from the bottom up than having it given to me.

Honestly that has been what it's all about, who gives a crap about monthly payments and all that nonsense. People know that I could have had an evo a long time ago, but the fact of the matter is it isn't what I want. I want to make people so "wow" unless you're an foolish *** who all you have to say in threads is "what's the point" or "modding cars isn't an invesment and pointless". If you have the patience and the ideas to do it, then dammit knock yourself out. Everyone loves to SAY what they want to do, but this man seems to say and follow through. He is the first with the ralliart body kit in the US, and now he will be the first 4G63 AWD conversion. I am excited, I'm sure it's going to be a lot of hard work, but I'm going to be following you dude! We already spoke about this already though

PLEASE READ!

Keep the EVO comments out of this. I am sick and tired of EVO owners coming into a Lancer build thread and dumping on the person that started the thread. Can't some of these EVO owners get their heads out of their butts and give credit where credit is due. This guy is doing something that was thought to be impossible. If you are going to crap on this guy, go away and don't post. I am tired of it and I am certain that Lancer owners are tired of it too. If I see anymore of it, you will receive an infraction.

I'm sorry but everyone says this, hell I said it at one point, but once you get a car that has everything you want from the factory, you understand why people trade their cars in. Building up cars is fun but for the average person, engine swaps and drivetrain swaps are out of the question, they either can't afford the parts, can't afford the labor or can't afford to be without their daily driver for weeks or months.

Well, what you say is so obvious. Let people say it, only morons try to mod a car this seriously without the obvious necessities. So, who cares what people say, let them say it. The ones who do it are the ones who are good for it, so I'll say it again let them say it, people are mostly talk no action anyway

Yeah we have a lot of shots. As for the build costs, It's not as bad as people say it is. But then again I didn't take my car to a shop.

Thanks for the kind words! But I do have to say... I'm not the most dedicated lancer owner

Mirage guys have been doing these kinda swaps before me. And some of those guys have crazier builds than mine.

Well... I am closer to what you would define as the "average person". I'm not rich. I'm not sponsored or backed by a big shop. Hell I don't even have a lift! But I sure don't agree with what you said. I would never trade my Lancer in... I had thought about it years ago when it was basically stock... but at this point I wouldn't trade it in for ANYTHING! Nor would I find more pleasure in another car that has everything I want stock or whatnot... because to me it just remains what it is... just a car. It's the work and dedication that I put into my Lancer that makes it more to me than JUST another car that I own... my passion for cars flows out of it. It defines me as a car guy.

Perhaps you should rephrase what you said to this:

Building up cars is fun but for people that aren't really into cars, engine swaps and drivetrain swaps are out of the question, they either can't afford the parts, can't afford the labor or can't afford to be without their daily driver for weeks or months.

I never planned on mentioning this swap at all... but this thread was full of bashing and negativity... I had to show another side to this story

That's fine, I think it's great that you're actually doing the swap (as opposed to all the other people that said they would then never posted again) but you must see how it's not within the reach of most people. Hell for most people a turbo kit is a stretch and that's a well-established and easy to install modification. There are plenty of people that mod with a known goal in mind (ie. they want 300 hp) and for those people, if there's an easier way to get there, they'll probably take it. Saying that these people are not really car people is somewhat insulting, I loved my lancer and there are days when I miss it but I realized that I didn't have the time or the money to make into what I wanted and for me a new car made sense.

It wasn't really within my reach either. But I do have a goal for my car, and if it meant that I couldn't spend my money doing other random **** that people do for fun, then so be it. I find more pleasure working on my car anyway.

Amby basically I don't think he met that the people who don't do this swap aren't "car people" but that they aren't DEDICATED car people. As he said he wouldn't spend money doing other random things that people do for fun (and before someone says soemthing smart, he said things that people do for fun, not taking away food from his plate at home) and this is what he finds fun. As for the people who can't put in a turbo kit, well they shouldn't be going for something as big as an engine swap anyway. Patience and dedication has been the key to everything that this is about, and I've seen many people that don't have that on this website, which is why ideas are brought out, but are never acted on, or people just disappear. As you said Amby people want to do things that are easier for them, honestly I don't think it is about being cheaper but whatever is easiest on them. But if you compare costs (which people really don't do sometimes) it might be cheaper to do certain things. It sounds dumb, but true. I've paid off my lancer, and I can now play with my car and do the things that mark is doing, OR I could change ship and get, oh I dunno a WRX . It just really depends on the goal you have for your car and how dedicated you are to reach that goal, which is the way that I see it.
