having worked at an oil change place i can tell you that i am not surprised those guys were total douchebags.

it's your car, do what YOU want and screw what everyone else says. no matter WHAT you do SOMEONE will always be unhappy with it. as long as you're happy driving your car around--that's what counts. who cares what some grease monkies have to say?

there is plenty of potential in the lancers, too... my friend who autoxs his OZ has beaten evos several times right before my eyes. not all races are in straight lines from stoplight to stoplight, and the opinions of people who think that is actually racing are completely worthless.

I know our lancers have quite the potential... Tripling the stock horsepower is LOADS of potential. A lot of how well a car performs deals with the driver too...You could have a ****ty Evo driver take on an experienced Lancer Turbo driver and have the Evo get wiped all over the road...I'm pumped haha.

"i had one for 5 years and put well into 6k in mods into mine and ill have to say that its not!"

Well, you didn't spend money in the proper area.

For my LS coupe w/ the money that I had spent, it's still faster than my past S13 w/ intake + crappy exhaust work and my current stock S14. It was enough to beat a 2g Spyder, 3G eclipse RS/GS, and Accord V6.

IF you think you can put enough NA mods to beat 'tegra GSR or ITR, don't even try it. I didn't even bother to try either. Also, I had improved my MPG from stock 22-24 MPG to a 28-30 and at most 32 for an auto tranny car.

BTW: when I had put my car for a t-belt change, I knew those yahoo mechs test drove the heck out of my car . . . don't know why they unhooked my CC hose and reset my trip meter. Plus, my car didn't feel the same, because the ECU took on an much aggressive profile.

I heard that N/A mods were kind of a waste for the lancer. One thread on here was a guy who put over 12k into N/A mods and it only resulted in 110w.h.p. I've seen so many people say that if you want major power and speed out of a lancer, you're gonna need to go the boost route.

N/A maxes you out at about 120HP tops maybe. Definately turbo it. At least people know about your car. Anyone asking me about my car assumes its just as fast or close to an evo, so if you do turbo it, it would surprise them. For me, people wouldn't think much not knowing how slow it is stock. For some reason, all the guys that work at lube shops I've seen all drive eclipses and cavaliers, so screw them and do what you want. The lancer does have potential, it just costs more than hondas and stuff.

You can get more than 120 hp out of a lancer NA, it just requires a hell of a lot of money and dedication.

Thats good to know, I was going off the fact that that one guy had like every bolt on and even a ported head and dynoed at like 109 I think. Very depressing, but yeah I've seen other lancer dynos higher than that with just basic boltons.

If you're worried about what some no-name oil changer thinks of YOUR car, then just sell it and buy the car he approves of. That way, everyone will like you for your car and nobody can possibly dislike your new mean machine. I mean, how could they? The oil changing dude said it is cool. Afterall, he must have a degree in this shiet..... Damn, you really got lucky when that guy revealed the yellow brick road to enlightenment!! We should all send him a thank you card and flowers

(sorry, long day)

I guess it really depends on what day and what dyno you use. I know my ES wont pump out more than 100 to MAYBE 105 at the wheels. Hopefully I'll have enough to throw on that turbo by summer and give some of these Honda rice combos around my school a good surprise.

Haha no worries. I was just fed up with a lot of people talking down about my car and it had gotten to me a bit. I know I'm backed by a ton of EvoM members, and I'm definitely gonna go turbo and give them a good surprise =P

Don't take it so hard man. Alot of hardcore muscle guys say that about ANY import. Call the car a toy and stuff like that, it's just something you have to deal with when you modify your car.

Thanks so much EvoM. You know how to get me even more fired up to turbo and show some good numbers with an ES.

Not sure how much an 06 ES goes for these days, but it seems to me that if you were going to put a turbo kit on it and get the supporting mods, you may as well just get something like a 03-04 WRX. The price between the two can't be too far apart.

Never listen to anyone. Do what makes you happy. What made me happy was driving by those types of guys. Heh heh.
