I'm in the same boat, have this car, can't afford a more expensive one, but can gradually save up for things like rims, exhaust, turbos (eventually). But what the important part to realize is, that if you just want a decent d.d that has around 200-230hp, it is attainable in this car, and you can do it over time, with the funds that you have. But you have to realize that thats where it will stop. Its never going to kick everythings ***, but it sure will be fun to drive, and wont cost you 32,000 in one go. Its a constant, and fun work in progress. As long as your happy with 200-230, theres no reason not to do it.

Just my opinion.

I would rather have my lancer that looks freakin sweet, and have it at 230 hp, than a POS 1980 something mustang that has 600 hp and looks like it just rolled out of a junkyard. I know someone that has an old red mustang that is so boring and ugly, but its a "classic" and it can burn out and go 180mph but the hood doesnt match the fenders and the fenders dont match the rest of the car. Then the number 1 car on cardomain was a 1991 mustang and the car was ugly green, with ugly rims, and the hood was fiberglass unpainted, but it was fast, WHO GIVES A CRAP?

I am all for turboing the lancer, its a cool car and not everyone has one. And most people that do have one didn't turbo it or do anything to it at all. Mustangs and hondas are driven by every high school girl and their grandma, and I'd be damn proud to run in my 200hp turbo lancer and be the only one in my city.

Nobody's saying that. But, think about what car you would rather have. The Lancer is in the same class as the Neon, Civic, Cobalt, Ion, etc.

The Lancer, in my opinion, is the obvious choice. It's one of the cheapest, has the most standard features, best in class front seat room, best warranty, etc.

And most people would rather have a nice, new car with a warranty than buying a used DSM or Integra GSR or something like that.

And, I think the Lancer looks the best too

Like everyone has said above numerous times. Having the ability to mod and customize your car is what defines you. Anybody (with lots of money) can go by an EVO and beat almost anything on the streets and thats cool but EVO's are beginning to be such a fad, at least around here. How you make your car up and the mods you choose is how you say, "Hey, this is me. And if you don't like it, well then **** you." Who cares what some low life oil boy says about your car. Just know thats its pretty sad that he has to say something like that anyways, probably so he doesn't feel so down about his multi-colored 60's camaro with van halen in the 8 track and Edelbrock stickers all over the windows.

Do with your car however you choose and don't let anyone tell you what is cool or what is worth it because in the end, what you like is whats cool! And if you want it bad enough, then its worth it! Nobody likes the same stuff. I personally hate the color green! But if someone painted their Lancer green? Awesome. More power to ya because its what you want!

I bought my 03 OZ because I like the way the car looks, handle, and the space inside the car. I've been laughed at, called dumb, called turtle, been told to park that sh**, and even told some of my ideas for the car is stupid and ricey (especially by evom members) but ya know ask me if i give a sh** about what people think Im proud to be a Lancer Driver and I plan to shock the hell out of the lancer community when I drop an EVO 8 4g63t Motor under the hood of my car and be the pioneer of it. And no it hasnt been done and no it wont cost me 10k and no Im not going to do the AWD conversion either. I've done tons of homework on this project measuring and research so screw what everyone else thinks. My 2 cents do what makes you happy and F888 the world.
