Just went and had an oil change, and the guys there took a look under my hood and saw my intake, and I immediately got stares with the message "Is he ****ing serious?". After they were done changing the oil, the manager of the place came up to me and just told me not to put money into my car... Kind of a downer =/. What do you guys think I should do? I'd really like to throw a turbo into my car and prove that a lancer CAN pull over 200 at the wheels. Just kinda discouraged ya kno?

 

And? You could have 300 hp and there will always be some people that think it was a bad idea.

Don't listen to what some guy changing your oil has to say. Amby is right. No matter what you do some people are going to tell you you just wasted your money. It is your car anyways. What he thinks doesn't matter. Where did you get it changed at?

EZ Lube. And yea...I'm starting to pick up that people are just gonna tell me that I'm wasting my money. The base and OZ lancers really aren't that commonly upgraded. Then when you pull something like Omar, you get a bit of respect =P.

 

Nah haha. I didn't ask them what they drove. Basically, all I hear from people is "sell your car and get a better one" "Your car doesn't have any potential" etc. etc. I really just wanna prove them wrong =P.

 

i LOOOOVE the lancer and think its an awesome car. but, i had one for 5 years and put well into 6k in mods into mine and ill have to say that its not! i repeat not worth putting money into. It hurts to say it cause i was one of those stubborn people who didnt listen to the evo drivers saying it was a waste of money. Looking back at it now i will admit it was a waste of money. I put bolt on, turbo, rims, body kit and all on my car. And all it did was make it fun to drive but a pain in the *** to upkeep. There is a phrase of "you gotta pay to play" and i payed for it. I put suspension mods on my car and had fun taking corners hard, but my front lower strut bar broke. I realized the car is an economy car not a sports car.

So these past few months i told my self if i could save up and buy a turbo kit in 3 months pay for install and all this what not. ( all was about 4k ) why not just save a bit more and buy a WRX, and i did buy a wrx.

Buy the 08 lancer and mod that car if you cant get the wrx. Everybody who advertises the new lancer says its very sporty, it has great ridgety, great power almost 170hp based on thedyno's of 142hp 143 tq @ the wheels. To be honest im going to buy a lancer as a DD, i love the lancer. And i pretty much told my self anything more on the WRX with a stage II pro-tune would be very unreliable. So my mods money will not go to the WRX anymore, now ill have extra for the lancer.

thats my .02 i didnt wanna come of as being a jerk at any point in time, because like i said i know how it feels to be talked down upon and to be told im wasting my money.

 

Don't worry about what someone else thinks. Its all opinion. Its your car, your money, and if thats what you enjoy, then they can **** off. Besides, most of the guys that work at places like Jiffy Lube & stuff are retards anyway (From my own experience).

No worries haha. You didn't come off as a jerk =P. It really is hard to pull out higher numbers on this car. I only have 3k miles on it. Maybe i could still get some decent money out of it, maybe 10k, if i'm lucky, and save up to buy the 08. It's a Major upgrade from the 06... I'm open for options =P.

 

Tell him it saves you gas. Engine breathes easier = better gas milage, right? Don't let it get you down. You should learn how to change your own oil anyway. If you can remove your old filter box and plop in a shiny new intake, you can change your oil.

Or trade it in and get somethng more powerful from the factory. Those bug-eyed scoobys are starting to grow on me... who knows, once this car is paid off I might just pick one up. But it's no substitute... I will have an evo some day. Be strong, screw those guys.
