tell 'em to shut the hell up and stick on changing the oil on ur car, its ur car and hes not paying for it. if u want to rice it out, u go on ahead and rice it out and its still ur car. u want turbo? get one. end of story

I'm gonna go turbo on my car. I'm prepared to keep up the costs of maintenance and keep some extra cash around just in case of a rainy day, as per one of the previous posts. I know it's not going to be cheap...I know it's not going to be easy...But it's what I want to do with it, and my car will be a hell of a sleeper. Those people who always say "get a better car" etc etc need to realize that it isn't really an option for everyone... My car is paid off, so I don't have a car payment. I just pay insurance. Unfortunately, on an 06 lancer, i'm paying 1500/6mo because of two previous accidents But I should have enough to get a turbo by summertime. I probably wont install it until I've built up some extra funds, just in case something goes wrong... I've received so much useful info from everyone here I know I can rely on everyone here...

Just sell your car and buy an Evo jk

Congrats on paying your car off man. And good luck with the turbo. I'm planning on being ready to boost by next summer.

It's not always about just buying a fast car. There's some joy in having a slow car and turning it into a pretty fast car.
well it doesnt have to be an evo, you can get a mazda speed 3 which is faster than the evo 8's from a roll. And those cars are like 20k, and the insurance rates for them are not pricey.

But, you are still comparing apples to oranges. You are comparing a (roughly) $14,000 car to a (roughly) $20,000 car. That's a huge difference to some people, including myself.

Don't turbo your car now with your car payment + insurance premium . . . ask Hobie on his ordeal. You'll put yourself in a hole much faster, and your warranty will be shot to hell.

I get this feeling like "wth am i doing." Spending money on something that loses value. Sooner or later falls apart and costs me a lot of money. I have a little over 5 grand in aftermarket into my lancer. I bought it brand new for 16,700 in 03 so im over 20k right now and my mod list keeps growing.. It would be better for me to stop buying parts of course. But its fun. I enjoy having a nice car that is fun. Even know the lancer isnt the perfect candidate, its what I have and cant get out of it because id be so far in the hole. (just from the loan, not even the aftermarket). I look at it as my hobby. Enstead of spening thousands on gaming systems and games or ipods and new cell phones all the time I buy car parts. I dont have the latest and greatest pc or anything like that. I sacrifice other areas to have fun with my car. Thats how I feel about it anyway.

I think we all get a little discouraged at times, since most of us are teenagers or in thier 20s and dont have too much money to waste. I know if money really wasnt an issue my car would be super awesome.

My car is paid off. Insurance isn't that big of a deal with what I make. I'm gonna turbo it

Not saying I didnt want to do it, but Turboing your car is only a 80hp gain... It seems kind of ridicoulous to pay 3k for only an 80 hp gain.

I'm thinking about getting RRM's kit, then start to build my own custom kit, following omar's build >

RRM's kit puts out 200whp. Compared to approx. 100whp stock.

Plus, if you grab some new pistons and rods, bump the boost up to, let's say, 12 psi (estimate) you could easily see 225-250whp (125+whp gain)
