2008 Lancer [MEGAMERGE]
Great review, I like the new lancer. Good job!
Btw, when you guys are testing the GTS, can you throw some sweet aftermarket wheels and take some pics.
I guess the bolt pattern on the 08 lancer is still 5x114.3?

err well most RA dyno stock 140-150 so i take back what i say about the 08's being faster than the RA. But you never know how this 2.0 DOHC 4B11 Mivec will be against the 4G69 SOHC 2.4 liter 04-06 RA.
2008 lancer GTS
im planning on getting the GTS when it comes out and also would like to get some new rims on it, does anyone know the PCD size of the 2008 lancer? I want to get the Enkei RSV 18" rims but not sure if it would fit on the new GTS lancer
To answer a few questions, the suspension is similar but totally new, so nothing will work from an older model. For example, as pictured, the rear strut now mounts to the floor of the trunk instead of heaving a taller strut tower.
The GTS has no changes in the engine. The one we are testing has the CVT option which also has a paddle shift with virtual gears. It is possible that this will be faster as it can keep it in the power band a little better. However, CVTs are not known for their strength, so turboing one may be a bad idea.
The GTS does have upgraded brakes, body kit, wheels, interior trim, and suspension. I do not believe it is lighter as everyone is quoting the same weights for all. I do believe they are all 5x114.3, and if I doubt we will be able to find a set of wheels handy to mount up.
There are 3 models so far for 2008 and they are seperated by trim level, not drivetrain.
The rumored Ralliart, which is really not so much a rumor, should feature the regular Lancer body, but with a turbo engine and possibly AWD to rival the WRX. We will probably hear more on this later this year

ES Rear Brake type: Drum
Based on the specs from mitsu only DE has drums, both ES and GTS come standard with Solid Disc brakes.

Maybe you guys tested the DE with the 16" alloy wheels that come on ES?
Another suggestion for the GTS: night shots, so that we can see how the gauges, headlights and taillights light up.

Nice, post them up
I do agree with most of what you are saying. But the examples you are using to compare to the new lancer, in my opinon, are not fair. A s2000, Celica, and Supra are totally different cars. They were built using a different mind set. This car is different. I agree that maybe having 6 cup holders and all the storage areas made the interior seem a little more "americanized", but if you were able to see both interiors (old lancer and new) in person, you would agree that the newer one just had a more solid feel to it. I guess what I'm saying is the pictures really don't do it any justice.
