motor trend has some really good specs on the GTS model. They have 1/4 mile times and prices up for it.

base price is about 18k. so its pretty obvious the DE and ES models will be about 1k cheaper than one another.

I look forward to finding the limits of this drivetrain.

thinking about how much the evo can hold power wise with the paddle shifters, i have no doubt the lancer GTS can hold boost.

It seems as if the new Lancers 2.0l engine specs are a bit underrated, 7.7 from 0-60 (Evolutionm.net also did testing to the new Lancer and had similar results https://www.evolutionm.net/features/article.php?id=80 ) from a 2.0l engine and in a car that weights about 150-200pounds heavier than the previous generation is pretty impressive as it basically puts the new basic Lancer in the previous generation Ralliart territory. It's also better than the 2.0l engine from Mazda3 and on par with a higher displacement 2.3l. Seems as if the new engine is really something.

Rob at road race said he drove the gts a little and claims it completely wipes out the current ralliart. I like the sound of that.

Actually its one of the UK market Lancers that uses a 4G63 non turbo. The top JDM Lancer uses a turbo GDI mill - 4G93. But yes, the internals are probably weaker in the n/a '63's then an Evo just as it was for 1G DSM's that came with (among one other) turbo and non turbo 4G63s.

well thats obvious, they don't worry about making the non turbo engines as strong because they don't need to be. But they can be beefed up to withstand the boost.

Well yeah, you'd think so, but I am pretty sure all DOHC 3000GTs have the same bottom ends, turbo or not. I don't know anything about the UK n/a 4g63, other then it has higher compression, which is why I can't be certain about the strength of its internals.

I think one of the reasons to go to that trans is durability so that should translate to handling power too.

Is it the one w/ the new world engine? If so, how's the motor platform and its powerband?

It is solid for sure. Hard to describe the powerband because both cars I drove were CVTs but they have good power. Most of the acceleration is due to effienct transmissions though.

Quarter mile in the high 14's? I don't think so. Not if 0 to 60 happens in 7.7 seconds. LOL
