VIS makes 1000s of hoods a year outside the US. Their costs are waaaaaay lower than ours. I wish I could get them made for those prices. I understand though. Seems like a lot but that is all we can do.

Dumb question - the weight on the fiberglass hood? Obviously, I'd LOVE to get a CF hood and save 20 lbs. But seeing as my bank account is fairly empty, I gotta keep my options open.

I was not doubting the fact that your price point needs to be set at a certain level to maintain profitability and practicality of production numbers. I was simply explaining why people think this hood is expensive, it is because; as you have so eloquently stated, the market is flooded with hoods from manufacturers using foreign labor and mass production to reduce their cost and therefore make it possible for them to maintain a lower price point.

Now back to sienfeld, hood looks ight, i'll havve t see it in person!

Are able to order these yet Rock? I would definitely be interested in the FG. The paint isn't a problem for me, my father owns a body/restore shop. And I must say now, for a good quality hood, you should expect to drop money at that price. My Mustang that is sorta missed : ( had a aftermarket hood and I spent almost what the FG hood is on the Lancer and it was not even half the design. It was a pretty basic raised hood that was functional. And if there is a true scoop on this hood for the Lancer, trust me its functional and will help. It will allow heat to rise out of the engine keeping the engine cooler, which means you engine runs better since its at a cooler temperature.

I'd tend to agree. Stock hood is steel. I'm fairly confident that FG is lighter than steel.
