Deciding...

Hey everyone!

Let me introduce myself, my name is Ben. Im Seven-teen years old and I'm from Philadelphia. And I'm interested in getting a lancer. I was looking at the OZ rally edition. But they thing is I dont know much about lancers. So if anyone here could post some suggestions and comments that would be great. I saw the EVO but thats kinda expensive right now. Eventually I want to upgrade a car, and whats some good upgrades for the lancers?

Also I would like to know some pro's and con's about the OZ rally car.

Thanks alot guys, nice meeting you all!

-Ben

if you want a fast car, dont get it. unless you are planning on turboing it. If you don't care then go for it. I'm 16 and i got a lancer. I didn't know much about it either. I regreted it just because i found out it wasnt fast. I wish i got a dodge srt-4 honestly. But im working out with my lancer. Im getting it turbod and i just ordered a body kit and evo spoiler. They are really nice cars though

It's a great first/second car. I'm 27 and just finding out...hell, I don't need mega power. I'm happy with just a reliable car! and the lancer is just that...reliable, not to mention fairly easy to work on. Plus, the 02-03 is the better looking model years any ways! LOL

If you live in Philadelphia, you'll spend most of your time sitting in traffic. A super fast car wouldn't come in handy too often. The Lancer is small, reasonably quick, agile and good looking...in other words, a nice city car.

Do not get if you want a fast car with hopes of engine modding down the road. It's proven that dropping 10k on bolt ons will only net you 20-30 hp, if you're lucky. It's turbo ($3-4k) or go home with these.

The Lancer is an economy car. Plain and simple.

Yup. I'm 17 and the '02 ES Lancer is my first car. I love speed. I've driven Camaros, Stangs, and other cars like the '04 VW Passat. If you love speed, DO NOT get this car. However it's very comfortable, and reliable. The interior is pretty good for what it is. Even the stock stereo sounds good. You can also make it look nice by getting eyelids for your headlights, an aftermarket muffler tip (instead of getting a whole exhaust sytem to not spend a lot of money) and aftermarket tail lights and tinted windows. I got an aftermarket muffler tip ($30) installation to get it on ($80, only cuz i got a universal fit so i had it welded to make it straight, but u can find a cheap bolt on) ... tinted windows ($90)... aftermarket taillights ($90)... eyelids ($10)... cold air intake off of ebay ($30)... and now I'm done with my car. You can also get rims and make it all nice and aftermarket stereo systems but forget about performance. Very reliable and good gas mileage

I needed a car to get me to and from school reliably and that looked cool... My OZ was just what I needed... Compared to other cars the numbers look slow, but for just normal to spirited driving my Lancer makes me smile! haha Its a fun car
