i have a few questons. does anyon know where to get the MSD ignition DIS-2 system for a descent price. also what else do i need for to replace the coilpacks that msd offers please if anyone has any ideas where tofind MSD Ignition systems please let me know i have a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally manual trans

 

Please search, this issue has been covered in the past and from what I remember, the MSD ignitions do not work on lancers and are also unnecessary unless you have a serious engine (ie. 400+ hp).

 

so i have a big fuel problem its practically coming out the exhaust in a liquid form how do i burn it then without spark? unless there is another way to get rid of it then i am all ears

 

I think you have exhaust leak? tighten up the bolts, get some new gaskets

 

come on man im not that stupid how would gas come out in a liquid form cause of a bad gasket or a loose bolt. im not burning the gas i have upgraded injectors rail fuel pump thermal cat back and OBX header and downpipe deleting both cats. without putting a cat on i want to know how to burn the gas since this moderator doesnt seem to think the msd ignition will work. if im not correct if i apply more spark at higher RPMs wouldnt that burn more of the fuel that is not burning. and the msd will work for our cars to with MSD DIS-2. and then the universal coil pack set up they have yes you gotta tap into the wires but yes it will work.

 

sorry man if you thought i was calling you stupid. well i've seen liquid coming out of the end of an exhaust muffler because of it and it is a leak. Are you trying to make a rev-limiter?

no thats cool no my gas mileage is horible too. its cause im not burning the gas and i know the MSD will ignite and burn it more considering it produces are more solid spark at low rpms and keeps it pretty constant through high rpms

 

yeah its good for better fuel economy let me know if you get it working. Did you try hooking it up to a better vacuum line?

 

OK here's the problem with your solution, you're trying to build a deck using an atom bomb. You said you have upgraded the injectors, did you tune for them? If all you did was bolt new injectors in, you're running extremely rich hence why raw fuel is leaking out of your exhaust pipe. Adding an MSD system might help but it's by far the most complicated approach and could just lead to other problems or cover up the main problem. You have a fuel system designed for a turboed car but you're basically stock, it's no wonder you're gas mileage is poor and you're leaving a flammable trail everywhere you go. Get the car tuned or consider putting the stock injectors and fuel pump in. With those mods, you're won't be even close to taxing the stock parts.

 

please for the love of god if youre not turbo or on a built motor put the damn stock injectors back in before you blow yourself or someone else up. youre creating a very dangerous situation with the fuel setup youve got.

 

i am in the process of building a turbo kit im just not about to spend 4 grand on a companies name for a turbo kit so yes it will be done. and for the msd problem your rght it wont work for our lancers but ill let everyone know as soon as i figure out the wiring for chevy cavalier ignition system. im working on getting the cavaliers coil pack system into the lancers which will open up the doors a little bit for the people that wanna do th ignition system. i do get what you guys are saying about it being a time bomb. but unlike some of the guys on here i dont have an unlimited amount of money in the bank. so its a step process. but i do apreciate the concerns

 

Why are you trying to put a new ignition system in the car? If you do some research, you'll see that there are plenty of very powerful (meaning more than 99% of the lancer community will ever have) lancers that are using the stock ignition sytem. Your ignition isn't a problem, there are many other things you should be concerned about. As for just leaving this problem alone, it's your car so it's your decision but don't be shocked if you end up with a weaker motor because of it. If you're running so rich that raw unburnt fuel is leaving the exhaust system, you have a serious issue on your hands. Unless you are literally installing and tuning the turbo kit tomorrow, save your car the stress and go back to stock until you actually need the upgrades.

 

Everyone is right. If you put bigger injectors on an untuned car, it just makes a big hole for fuel to pour through. If you can actually see liquid fuel coming out of your exhaust, the only spark big enough to burn that much fuel would blow your motor wide open. There's a guy that just put up videos of his turbo kit (he has 315 hp or close to that) and he has an aftermarket ignition system. He might be able to tell you how to do it and what to use.
