Can someone please tell me what is the problem? thanks

take it to the dealership. That is what the warranty is for.

Pretty sure "2nd hand" cars don't come with the factory warranty. The dealership MIGHT honor it, but since he's not the original owner, they might not.

true.... but if he has no warranty there isnt much to loose by going in anyway. It might cost you a bit to discover the problem. but driving at 80kmph isnt fun and I rather have the dealer try to figure it out vs. a generic shop. I am guessing it is computer related, mechanical is possible but not very likely.

in other words... the original poster is stuck in a crappy situation with very little upside. warranty might be gone, but at least this way he will know for the future if he is on his own or stick has Mitsubishi backing his car.

Sounds like basic ECU confusion. Hard to guess at the original cause.
