automatics arent THAT bad. sometimes people make them out to be horrible. i know this dosent apply to lancers, but my old 92 integra was automatic. at the time i just wanted a "nicer" car. anyway i took it to the track (bad fuel injector, and loose throttle cable) i ran a 17.4 which was not bad at all considering my friend in his 00 celica gt 5speed ran a 17.3. he was bone stock, and i had only a intake. so yeah autos arent that slow.

idk... when i raced pgmike and his launch is what kicked my ***. If we could find a decent none destructive way to launch i think we would be somewhere in the ballgame. There is that loss of power too, but thats just the addition of mods.

Did you read the link posted by Skahorn?

If you move the shift selector to a lower gear, the transmission will downshift unless the car is going too fast for that gear. If the car is going too fast, it will wait until the car slows down and then downshift.
How can the transmission be damaged anymore than just normally considering you drive the car nicely, but hastely?

ya good call, i dont have 2k for a nwe tranny either, and would be horrible if i had to replace,

i think we need to get some proven facts on if its bad, and find a good way to launch.

A new torque converter fixes the launch problem, infact that is exactly what it was designed for.

Tanner65 I did not read the link, I have serviced several automatic transmissions and have over 80 hours of training on them and as such I got through about 2 sentences and thought, gee this sounds like my introduction to automatic transmission class I took a while ago.

Needless to say I fancy myself a bit of an informed person on a transmission. By using the manual gear selector over the different soloniods and valves in the transmission you get a much faster and shockin engagement of the gears. This can lead to excess friction and wear on your bands and friction disks in your tranny. That is why I said what I did.

tranny work isn't cheap but if your gonna drop 450 for an rrm computer get that and then get this. you will be flyin!!!!!

and i know you have to send in the entire thing to level ten. i dont want them to mod my current torque convertor so i bought one at a junk yard and sent that in. i am buying another one at a junk yard and sendint that in after i buy the rrm piggy back. i do this so if a warrenty problem arises i can put my stock tqc back in

I remember a few months back someone talking about the Level 10 Torque Convertor...didn't know they actually had it done yet or whatever...thats cool...prolly be a later mod I do, or get it done same time as a L.S.D....but thats a ways down the road

Ya, it kicks harder when you have your car in 3 because if you going lets say 40 in 3 you are in a higher RPM range, and the higher rpm's your at the more HP and torque you get. so in essence you feel a stronger "kick"
FYI....if ur only doin 40 and ur an auto...it drops u to 2nd gear, as we can ride out 2nd gear til about 63~65 mph.... HA EAT THAT YOU STUPID 5SPEEDS!!!

...however...my old truck was a 5spd...and i miss shifting gears..

so that 7%gain we'll get back....would that be like adding a cat-back exhaust on 'again'?

and why was the 10% to torquey? i figure it'd be similar to like the stick or something....maybe im wrong.

don't know much about auto trannys...just they aren't as fun to drive as a stick...but in traffic jams...horrendous weather....im glad to have my auto

btw === 800th post for me..lol im almost at 7posts per day...and as for that 'evolved member' thing...yeah i knwo for 3-4 days straight i posted 30-50 posts a day...shot me up there in NO time! boo ya!!

i wanted to get the piggy back and that would give decent gains, but is it like the reflash where u have to send it in only after u are done with all of your breathing mods, because thats a bit down the future. esp since that would involve throttle body headers and some other stuff for me. Uh i am so impatian i want to quick burst now. Oh well.... or wait maybe i should get rid of these hubcaps first. damn es.
