So i ended up going to, yes macco.. thy were most flexable i found and affordable... as i wasnt tooking for anything fancy /high end, just wanted a factory paint job.. gonna go for their middle option that has a 3 year warrenty....

i saved some money cause it would be cheaper to paint it all lightning yellow cause thy wanted $150 just to black out the diffuser of my evo 9 bumper and same for the front lip and trunk lol... so thy told me it be cheaper that way and i could just paint the rear bumper black my self

i doubt ill have pics this weekend but when i get car, ill share...
I have gotten two really good paint jobs done at MAACO. the painter there at one time was really good. I kept seeing high end cars...Lincolns, Jags, Caddy's and stuff there and wondered why...prep and a good painter. hope you have the same luck. strip off as much as you can...lights etc and it will come out even better.

thy are gonna mask off the headlights tails etc... plus I don't wanna remove them cause I re-did the wireing on both sides cause I installed load resistors on turn signals cause I swapped my parking with my turn signals on my headlights you see on prev posts.... tails are easy to pop out but told the dude that missing one of the mounts cause thy di buldge at corners due to missing retainers... other than that, told them thy might have to sand blast the doors front and rear qtr panels cause of the issue with oem paint along with my well messed up front fenders lol...

thy will prep best thy but due to the cancer from peeling clear coat thy might sandblast the affected area.. since both hood and front bumper have strees marks from flexing over time ( keep in mind that the evo7 hood and bumper I got changed hands 3 times from what I can tell + I had to fix sev nasty cracks on front bumper when I got it my self that came out perfect) thy may return... once the car is prepped the sealer will be applied then primer then paint.... im so nervious waiting for it to be done... should have it by next week mon or tues...

luckly the train/trolly or tram what thy call it in other parts of the world is only 2 blocks from my house and it goes direct to my work in santee so im good. I got some exterior parts that ill put on once the job is done like vortx generator..

don't know if I mentioned it but the car will be lightning yellow front to back. now the blacked parts would of cost me more at a tune of $150 per section like rear diffuser and hood + black paint is extra and I wanted to keep cost low as possible ya know... ill likely vinyl wrap hood and trunk ( may leave trunk yellow ) as for diffuser ill end up doing it by hand. that one when I first got the bumper way back when came out perfect you can see the progrenn I uploaded the work to my album when I did bumper by hand

best way to narrow it down is with a mechanics stethoscope if you have one or get one. harbor freight has them cheap. if not, you can use a long screwdriver and put the metal end on the part of the motor you want to listen to and then put the handle end to your ear and listen. not as good as the scope but will help to narrow down where the noise is coming from, thus what it probably is.

What happened to it when you cleared it? Did it start to look like alligator skin and curl up? What kind of clear did you use? Lacquer? You can use enamel over lacquer but you can't use lacquer over enamel. If you already used enamel, your best bet is to use enamel or urethane clear. Not sure if that's what happened, but I been down that road a few times.

Built a homemade CNC. First test cut, just a little engraving to check the geometry out. Turned out really well

Not gettin car back this weekend as planned from macco. More work has to be done cause doors , rear qtr were bad (those were original/factory lol), roof had issues but not as bad..

Now for the hood, front and rear bumpers needed more work to be done. ( was pretty bad ) cause of the accolade's perfect job lol.. More prep work needed done and i should have it by next wed...

Thy arent charging me extra for the added prepwork 😄

I think it was just the metal hood. Never seen anyone do it to carbon fiber or fiberglass.

i got some quotes for my frp hood and progress on my car... i got prices from $250-$300 to wrap my hood as long as surface is smooth it can be done. i also have a guy i work with who drives a teggy and can do it for me if i buy the film but i have to wait for paint to cure first before i start wrappin.....

No images but car is now fully prepped, took longer cause they had to do extr to prep cause of the kit but the masking will be done by tomorrow. paint is scheduled for wed/thurs. This specific macco shop get busy and are bringin painters from another location to help out...

Well, I been busy as sin lately ,but I went to the local u pull and found a poor lancer sitting there,. And what did I find, a newish o2 sensor so I cut that out to replace my chopped up one, found some new plug wires, replaced those, found an IAC out of a galant, replaced that with my broken one, and found the input/output speed sensors and replaced the easier one to get to. So now it should be able to shift properly.

Cost of the o2 sensor, IAC, both sensors, plug wires and random fuses... 6 bucks. Now onto welding up my bov return tube, got to weld a small pipe on my intake to run a hose to it from my bov so I can take the damn tape off of it
