Rotors Smoking After Install - Help

Scott (RacinMyLancer) bought some drilled and slotted rotors and after we installed them thy started smoking after a mile of driving. Is this normal? We just took it for a little test drive, but we dont wanna screw anything up.

Its the oil and grease from the guys hands burning off your rotors, dont worry about it.

Drilled rotors crack, and make pads into swiss cheese :-/ I dont like them, that could be it taking the beginning of the pads off, or what was said before, maybe its that stuff you sprayed on to clean them burning off.

I've seen a thread about this before, and it was most likely just what was posted above, the grease and stuff burning off, as well as maybe any coating or film on the pads.

I'm with the above folks. We just put rotors on my fiance's car yesterday, and my dad had me wipe them down with gasoline to get the grease off. They coat them with grease (for some reason that I don't know).

Some manufacturers coat their rotors with a cosmoliene, much like the substance used on new firearms. Prevents them from rusting during storage. Soap and water to take it off the rotors, Rem oil to take it off your guns. Also wear rubber gloves during install.
