Exclamation Green and Purple? Different Color HeadLights...

Anyways, this is wierd i remember a long time ago i saw an SUV, it was luxary type (lexus, infinity, acura) had green headlights on. I remember being on the freeway and seeing this gree hi-res light comming from and suv in the lane going the opposite, i was like woooooa... what the hell is that, looked kinda cool. Also the other day i saw a celica in the turning lane, and her turn signal was 'green'... i was like another one, is that legal? Also i saw another set of HIDS on a luxary sedan, but the lights where purple not hyper blue or pearl white. Anyways, anybody else see these? Are they legal?

yeah theres a lot of new colored bulbs coming out (well not that they werent out before, but now they're going to be available pretty much everywhere). they have plasma purple, green, and ion yellow. legal? all the packages say "for show or off road use only". i'm pretty sure cops are going to HATE these new bulbs big time.

ya, the yellow/amber lights are legal. in cali, for the front the only colors allowed are amber and white, amber or white for the turn signals, amber for the parking ligths and white for the headlights, any other color is illegal, such as red because it is considered impersonating an emergency vehicle like an ambulance.
for the back of the car it has to be red for the brakes, white for the reverse lights and either red or amber for the signals, no white in the back.

these are all relevant to cali's laws cus i was just at the chp's office and i picked up a handbook on these types of things.

I'm guessing those green headlights were cheap tinted blue wannabes (yellow light + blue tint = green). Those purple lights you see are high Kelvin rated HID bulbs used in a projector beam. These projector beams are emitting purple radiant light, but project direct white light on the road.

Anything lightbulb installed OEM (such as BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus, etc.) is legal, but most states are strict when changing oem bulb colors.

I think your wrong there... The Blue tint is actually suppose to remove the "yellowness" comming out from the bulb.... (ie not make it look green). It just basically removes a spectrum of light and makes the bulb *seem* brighter by glowing.. well..blue. (which to us is closer to white looking than a yellow bulb)

Tinting bulbs are a mistake unless if you live in the city where you never need to have night time lights at all... You can't see with tinted bulbs at all... Like having your high beams is like having a normal car's low beams on... Its terrible mojo...

The only bulbs i recomend is some sort of plasma or HID lights... But to convert our lancer to HID ready is about 3/4 a grand... Spending that much for a certain look, isnt worth it.

I'm no expert, but please explain why some ricers have green headlights. Last I check, PepZone didn't sell green headlight bulbs. I'm not certain, but I think NHSA (Safety comm?) made all aftermarket HID conversions kits illegal.
