Changing gauge clusters

Hey everyone here's an easy question that i need answered ... if i switch from my es gauge cluster to an oz cluster, the odometer and such will still read my car's mileage, right? If so why do people ask for clusters in certain odometer readings? thanks!

nope it will read what ever the milage was from the car that you took the OZ gauge from.i was lucky, I have a ES with 29000 miles on it and the gauge i got had 30000 miles on it. Some people have to get it changed to there original miles on the car that the gauge is going into. If you get it from the dealer then they should do it for you. at least they should since you have to pay like 300-400 for one. Got mine for 50 bucks.

I think ur ECU keeps the miles on it somewhere as a backcheck for someone trying to mess with the gaugecluster. Not to mention how unethical it is to swap clusters with lower mileage. I'm guessing higher mileage swap wouldnt be AS unethical...but still.
