2011 Lancer GTS
2011 owner
I have owned the 2011 Lancer GTS w/ the CVT since Labor Day last year, just when they came out. I've owned a 2002 Mitsubishi Mirage LS prior to that (had absolutely NO power, but 35 MPG was nice), so I think I'm pretty familiar with the brand.
I enjoy the car, the Sportronic shifting is nice and the smooth shifting of the CVT is a luxury for someone who just had manual and is looking to convert to a daily driver in start-stop, high traffic areas.
Through this winter, I have accumulated a fair number of paint chips, so I don't believe any resolution came the to paint chipping problem. But then again, something like paint chipping is unavoidable...
I'm looking into basic RRM mods, with the ultimate goal to get the car up to 200 HP approx. I want to also put lowering springs, tint, and lighter rims on the car. (would be nice to know what the stock GTS rims weigh to use to compare with aftermarket rims)...
The biggest downer for the car is the "bogg" that is part of the acceleration. I am hoping that the RRM Timing box, ECU and pulley will help this problem. It's just a matter of responsiveness to the acceleration on the throttle. However, the manual mode is relatively quick, but certainly not from 0 to wvr speed.
Advice???

Of course I was sliding everywhere and the whole city shut down for almost the whole day but for STOCK DUNLOP FACTORY TIRE'S with ONLY 5K on them they handle as good as they were going to get

I just member thinking it was cool having a built in TEN fosgate sub and amp. Especially all the way around and even tweeters(Fosgate), also back seats that drop down,n 6 disc changer which is the ****!!
But then I saw a white 10 GTS here in Houston with the Navigation system/screen which cost another 2,000 or 2,200 as a package which for what I paid on my 10 GTS,I'm not too mad and can't complain for the price I paid with less than 10 miles on the odometer

I like my GTS and all but I also cannot wait till I trade it in. Slow as hell and the gas mileage isn't that impressive for something that moves like it does. My girlfriend has a GTS sedan and after taking off the spoiler and having a body shop plug, paint the holes her mileage has improved significantly. She gets around 30 combined. Probably a ton of drag on that big ugly spoiler because it did not weigh much. But anywho, by December 2012 my car will be gone and either the next gen Evo or WRX or even the new FT-86 will be in my driveway.

dealership yesterday to go test the MR and GSR EVO X and both GREAT CAR'S. I'm just a lil mad that the interior besides the sway/leather and racing seats everything else in side is almost identical
I saw the new EVO which I think would make it the XI n i'm not a fan. BIGGER AND HEAVIER....AGAIN!

The interior is the same on the top model EVO so if you don't like that on the GTS the same thing is going to be on the inside for the Ralliart and up. And a Ralliart for 30k is a waste of money. 30k for a car that can't do better then 5.8 seconds? Please, I think I would rather spend 6k less, pick up a WRX and do 0-60 in about 4.5.

How did you see the new lancer? No pictures have been released on it at all.. the only thing available is an artists rendering on a car and driver article.

"We hear that the company, conforming to the laws of automotive natural selection that favor a more environmentally friendly species of transport, is working on a new 300-plus-bhp sports sedan that will come wrapped in a more attractive upscale package, with either a turbocharged diesel engine or diesel hybrid under the hood. The car will be slightly larger than today’s Evo and get as much as 35 mpg combined. Greener for sure, and all this with the added benefit of having more torque on tap, due to the stout grunt today’s clean diesels deliver with their improved throttle response.
Likely to be built in China or Thailand—marking a significant change, as all Evos to date have been built in Japan—the replacement car is yet to be named, but should come out sometime in 2012. Our sources also tell us it will be less of a hard-core sports car/sedan and more of a supremely versatile, high-performance GT; one that might approach the ideal of an Audi S4 or BMW 335i, with prices in the $30,000 range. All-wheel drive, with perhaps a 4-wheel steering option, will continue to make this new Mitsubishi as capable in rain and snow as it is on the track, while a possible roll-stabilizing suspension system should improve the passengers’ in-cabin experience, as well as making the chassis more responsive to the driver."
HEy I have an 11' gts tarmac black cvt. I use it as my daily commuter and i drive about 60 miles a day. Got 9500 miles on it so far and no issues at all. It does come with the bluetooth standard and the FAST entry system standard as well as oppose to the earlier models. The doors do seem a little light but to me thats not an issue. If ur looking for evo type power you wont get it from the gts (obviously) but its definitely not boring to drive. It does have weak low end power but when you past 3000 rpms it has a lil more pep. It is comfortable and the cabin noise isnt bothersome enough to disturb me and I drive like 2 hours a day. That said, it is comfortable and every now and then i see people with curb envy checking it out. All in all i'm happy i got it.
Right but you are complaining about it being bigger, and heavier? That means literally nothing. A challenger SRT is much heavier then your GTS, good luck in the 1/4 mile against one. You have to consider power to weight ratio. Based on that principle the current GTS is heavier then it is powerful which is shy the Si, SE-R, etc etc etc outperform the GTS in every category. It is also going to be competing with the S4 and cars within that range. Gone will be the days of a 20k lancer, sorry.

I was just saying that concept's and drawing's I've seen for the new EVO's are not to my liking and look bigger than the EVO X.
Just like the EVO 9 weight's less and of course the EVO 8 weights the least out of the 3 model's,here in the US.
