Question Aux Question

hi everyone
i bought a mitsubishi lancer gts 09
with the cvt transmission
ive had it for about 4 months and its been perfect
really fun specially the shift paddlers

but back to what i was gonna ask...
my car has this aux ports

i know before you ask something here you have to search it
in case someone post it before so i wouldnt ask again.
but i look for it a lot and i couldnt find my answer
i know there was people that ask the same thing but i notice
they didnt get the right answer or they were asking something else
but im wondering, what are they for? can you connect an ipod
and listen to it? can i watch videos with a camera? what is it for?
i have the rockford fosgate system, with the navi screen and the subwoofer
and that typical system.

on my stereo it gives me an option that says "aux"
which i think its for that aux port, so im wondering, what exactly can i do with it? where can i buy the cable? can i buy a cable from bestbuy? and another thing, we all know that when you play a DVD if you start driving, it stops
playing and appears something like "cannot be displayed while driving"
or something like that, when i pick "AUX" option, and i start driving, that same thing appears, like i need help big time, please
and im sorry just in case i didnt look right, but even in the mitsubishi dealership they didnt help me they didnt even know what i was talking about not even after i show them, still hope you guys can help a brother

Yes that is your AUX input. You can but that could just about anywhere. I don't have the navi but that yellow input is video so you can put up some type of video on your navi. The type of cord you want depends on what your trying to connect. For an iPod a headphone jack to RCA would be what you need.

As for the DVD stopping when you start to move there is some type of setting or simple "hack" for a lack of better word to get it to work while you are driving. Only certain ones can do it though from what I understand. I think your safe with the '09

I don't have the nav system, so all I have is the red and white plugs, but I was able to pick up a cheap 3' AUX cable at Radio Shack for super cheap. It's a pretty thick one, too, so hopefully it lasts a while. Anywhere that sells audio/video stuff should have the cord. The same ones that people use for home stereos work just as well as the ones branded for car use, but are usually cheaper.

Should really be much difference. Most of the time it's the same thing. Sometimes it could be the plug that connects from the plug on the iPod not the headphone jack. Up to you which one you would want. Either one should work fine

I think that's WAY too much for that kind of cable. If you don't mind waiting, I think you should order online, or find some microcenter, or frys (if they're around). Brick/mortar stores these days charge you out the wazoo for the most basic of things. These aux cables are extremely basic, and require no "special" manufacturing that would logically increase the price.

Here's a cable from the online supplier newegg that even has free shipping.

You don't need to take my advice.. I just really dislike being over-charged for stuff; especially electronics.

Yeah I don't suggest spending more then $15 for that cable. You can get a "nice" for pretty cheap. They are all about the same though

What sort of device do you want to output video??

Here's a universal type cable that does video:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882586003

Or an ipod specific cable:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16855996191

Or just pure RCA to RCA:

An AUX cable is an AUX cable. The only reason they label some as iPod cables when they use the headphone jack anyway is for marketing purposes. There shouldn't be any real difference in the way they're made.

Mine works fine.
